Matt Maiocco is the best! Never fake news. Always the truth! He called it!

Much respect to MM, I kind of doubted him.

Yup, much respect. And i just wondered if he had been carrying water for kyle during the draft. Nope , he was spot on and it wasn't fake news as some had thot.

Adam S. confirmed Staley informed them of his retirement BEFORE the draft and they STILL passed on Wirfs.

Unreal.

What if the FO didn't think he was good?

LOL
Did the Niners draft board leaked out to you somehow?

3 starters out of this draft now. Thats awesome considering this was a team in the SB with very few holes.

More considering we traded a 2nd for ford.

1. Kinlaw
1. Aiyuk
2. Ford
5. WillIams

Pretty epic draft

Wow, that's a nice hall.

this feels like a Belicheat move, along with quality vets that want to come here...

TW was done with a toxic franchise, sees he has some left in the tank and wants to play for a ring

Feels so good to be a franchise players push to play for again.

Please keep Shanalynch forever, Jed. It's these kind of things that pay off in the long run.

Joe was a 11.5 cap hit. Trent is a 12.5 cap hit. But Trent's going to get a substantial raise I would bet.

STALEY RETIRES

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Wow, ShanaLynch have stones passing on Wirfs. It doesn't sound like the TW trade was done when they made that pick.

Absolutely stupid.

Why? Maybe they don't view Wirfs as highly as you do

Lol it's pretty entertaining watching folks grasp at straws to bash Lynch

NCommand has a long history of hating how our front office views linemen lol

I hope there's no more bad blood between Sherm and TW
Wow Lynch played this well.

My head would have been spinning If I knew Staley was retiring before and after we made our selections on Thursday. Lynch did not panic at all.

At 31, he's not gonna ask for a crazy amount though.

why do you think he didnt play last year

he didn't want to play for the Skins anymore. He made that perfectly clear 2 years ago before that season started that he was not gonna play for them. Skins offered him a really good contract and said no. Then the Vikings tried trading for him and he said no to them as well, for whatever reason. But he wants to be here, so I think both sides will make it work. He could've turned down this trade as well, like he has done others.
Trent Williams probably wanted no part of Kirk Cousins as his QB again.

Dude, if he leaves after next year we almost for sure get a 3rd round comp pick for him. And if he re ups with us we get a franchise left tackle for the next 5 years for a 3rd and a 5th, STEAL

He's not leaving he's gonna get a fat contract extension

That's not what I read from that tweet. Sounds like we're going to bump up his pay for this year only. Then he walks? Hope not?

Seems like this is THE year to lock in good guys on long term deals if you can. It will seem like a bargain by this time next year assuming the cap goes up dramatically over the next few years as expected.

If the NFL plays games this season without fans in the stands the cap will actually go down before it jumps back up the following year.

You do not know that at all.

Majority of revenue comes from TV deals etc. not from fans in the seats..

Yup the Majority does. But obviously no fans in the stadiums means LESS revenue. Less revenue = Lower salary cap.

If the stadiums are shut down, that means recreation everywhere is in short supply. TV ratings would be through the roof and could increase overall income. Supply and demand.

I don't know about you guys but I'd rather have Javon Kinlaw and Trent Williams than Tristan Wirfs (who may or may not be an NFL LT) and whatever DT could've been available to them in the draft, if not Kinlaw.

+1

+2

Agreed, although I think keeping Buckner, then trading Armstead for a 2nd or 3rd would've been way better than the direction we went.

Armstead would have had to be a sign and trade since he was a free agent.

Armstead was willing to take a contract that would let him stay, Buck wanted a max contract and the 49ers went with fiscal responsibility.

Oh I´m 100% sure that Williams has told Snyder to GTFO.
And you have now a new regime with Ron Rivera. And Rivera is a no b******t type of guy.
I think he wanted to end this situation once and for all.
Also a lot of times, I heard people said that nfl players wanted to play for the Niners because of Kyle and the friendly type of front office.
I mean I was certain that Trent Williams was going to the Browns or at least the Vikings.
Pretty amazing job by Lynch. Instead of just drafting Wirfs....we trade back and add kinlaw. Use that pick to help get Aiyuk, then get our LT for a 5 and future 3? Brilliant job vs just taking Wirfs
