Athletes yes but there are still reasons why Trent would stay, starting with familiarity with Kyle and seemingly buying in to the culture that was built here in his one year with the team. Verrett wasn't a mercenary since he had a multi year deal with another team. Juice wasn't a mercenary. Don't know what else was out there but there was even an attraction for him and his wife to go to the east coast.

Obviously we can't keep them all. But a number of guys have decided to stay recently. Again, Juice, Verrett, Gould had a public spat with us and then signs a new deal and extension.

I don't blame Bourne at all because you're looking at a guy who was making good money as far as us regular folk go- really crazy money actually but who came in as an undrafted free agent and wound up getting a 20 million dollar contract. I do question the wisdom of going to New England based on who their current QB is and how bad he was last year but hopefully it works out for him. He's getting paid regardless.

I still suspect Trent stays but if he doesn't we go OT with the first pick in all likelihood unless we acquire a suitable veteran. Slater may or may not be there. People will think Darrishaw out of Va Tech would be a reach at that spot but I don't know if he would or not. Value or "big board" wise probably yes. But NFL people love him more than the guys like Kiper, McShay, etc. apparently do and he's considered one of the most athletic prospects in his class.

It's still just kind of funny to me all of the "first round QB" pick guys to get Jimmy gone ASAP. Maybe that happens but right now they're talking about the possibility of Tribusky or Andy Dalton and I see right here we're looking at or interested in Northwestern's QB who obviously isn't a first rounder. But certainly if we would sign a Dalton or especially Tribusky then we almost assuredly aren't drafting Lance, Fields, or even Mac Jones in Round One unless they really are looking at moving on from Jimmy after this season. And no move or indicator or thing they've said or done would lead one to believe that yet. Because we'd have 1) Jimmy 2)Dalton or Tribusky 3)Rosen 4) Fields, Lance, Jones (1st round QB) which makes no sense roster wise. Or probably money wise.

But naturally Dalton and Tribusky or just rumors like Cousins was a rumor, Darnold was a rumor, Stafford was a rumor, Jimmy back to New England was a rumor. So naturally there is that.

when it was said. the niners were poking around at the offensive line. that should have told you guys. the level of importance lynch and kyle place in it. i think trent is gone.. i think people who think his replacement is on the roster are fools which includes kyle and john. if he goes, not even the most dedicated lynch bath water drinkers can defend. i am sure there will be some deflection but losing a pro bowl guy like this in a key position is unforgiving in my opinion.. oh and if trent goes.... then the people who still set there with glazed . lynch for possum king. looks on their faces . saying we have the best roster in our division are fools

Just watch the homers put a positive spin on Trent leaving. They will probably say Williams is overrated or that letting him walk was a brilliant move by Shannalynch.

The only way i will be fine with him leaving, if some team gives him a monster contractor of 5-6 years 100+++ mil.

Three ways to look at it.

1. The one year rental was brilliant, they traded using a third round pick and will get a third round compensatory pick so it was a bill bellichek move
2. We should have drafted Tristan Wirfs last draft
3. Draft a OT or interior OL and sign another vet to play LT, or RT and move mcghlinchey to LT. See if he can make it happen.

The 49ers can't seriously consider going into the season with this oline minus williams.
