STALEY RETIRES

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Wow, ShanaLynch have stones passing on Wirfs. It doesn't sound like the TW trade was done when they made that pick.

Absolutely stupid.

Why? Maybe they don't view Wirfs as highly as you do

Lol it's pretty entertaining watching folks grasp at straws to bash Lynch

He literally just swapped out one starter with another...again. I love the trade but he's done nothing to update. It's not bashing him...it's stating facts.

Sorry, Bash may have been a strong word, as it pertains to your comment, but others are absolutely bashing him. But it seems pretty clear you are not a big Lynch fan
Btw Biadasz is still on the board. Wouldn't mind if they could somehow land him.

They have gotten younger and in better position salary cap wise which is pretty major.

And hopefully Kinlaw, Aiyuk and Williams all play at the same level (soon) as the previous starters in Buckner, Sanders and Staley!

Adam S. confirmed Staley informed them of his retirement BEFORE the draft and they STILL passed on Wirfs.

Unreal.

That is a goddamn poker face, Lynch is a beast

Wait a minute...NCommand has been wanting them to address OLine and they walk away with a BETTER LT than Staley and there is still a problem?

Provided that Trent Williams is in shape and ready to go, the Oline is improved. Now we can focus on guard and center (I have no confidence in Richburg's health long term).

Huh? I have ZERO issue with the trade. Love it!

But you are talking about passing on Wirfs. Why?

Brunskill is our staring Guard for sure now, I am good there. Richburg and his lengthy injury history is my only major concern now.

we have an open window right now. not really the time to start a rookie on the OL

just stating facts

The moves made this year in the cap will pay dividends for the next four/five years.

I can see that. Kittle will be expensive, but now we can afford him.
1 year to prove he deserves a good contract a year removed and for the first time in his career he has a super bowl shot I see him going into the season ready to beast it up. Another thing to look forward to is the training camp match up between him and Bosa pretty sure they'll make each other better
Not saying this is anyway official, but Staley's Wikipedia page shows his status as retied. I went to look to see if he had ever played guard in college.
Joe Staley's most recent contract was 2 year 28 mil. I know the contract is much more complex than just 14 million a year. But in a simplified view, we pretty much gotta make 6 mil or so extra a year available to make room for Trent if he still plays at the same level. Very doable.

Oh. LOL. I didn't see those.

I love the regime...just not their very obvious blind spots and draft strategies/philosophies. That doesn't mean it can't work out. Lots of ways of team building. Look at this regime...massive high end 1st-3rd round fails and still a top 5 talent team!

But my standard is Superbowl. I don't think they've done enough this off season.

Agreed, although I think keeping Buckner, then trading Armstead for a 2nd or 3rd would've been way better than the direction we went.

Armstead was a free agent, we couldn't trade him

I think it's going to cost us more, if we wait a year. Extend him now.

I think it is a safe bet to say Aiyuk will be different but equal or better, Trent will be flat better and Kinkaw has big shoes to fill...but even with that we are so much more cap healthy going forward and some important pieces will need deals the next few years for us to stay contenders over the long haul

Yup. I was dead set that Staley wasn't retiring based on what he said, but was sure to be gone next year. Now we aren't forced into taking a tackle next year. We have starting tackles for the forseeable future and two backups in Coleman and Skule. Now we just need to bolster to interior.

Wikipedia once said Emmanuels Sanders died after a big hit during a game lmao

Willams is better than Staley. It is very very unlikely Aiyuk is better than Sanders in the coming season.

At what? I think clearly Aiyuk will be better at RAC, and clearly Kyle can get the ball in his hands. Total receptions, you may be right.

What I think we're gonna miss about Sanders is the veteran leadership he provided to the wr room. I hope someone like Deebo or even Bourne steps up and becomes that guy for the wr group.

Yeah. Jimmy and Welker are going to need to step in.
