They're back-loading the hell out of their contracts.

Thuney's contract is only costing them $4.5 million this year. It jumps to 17 million next year.

Then they will restructure, convert this or that to a bonus, add a year.
For being the best QB in the league, Mahomes sure needs alot of help to succeed. When he didn't get that help he got killed.
I just read dudes in Mexico on vacation just chillin and taking his time in the process

To be fair thats every qb, look at Brady in every SB loss he got abused by top dlines and last year with trash around him everyone thought he was done. Every qb no matter how great they are needs to be surrounded by talent especially an oline.

Damn at what point will we overpay for him? I want him back as much as anyone but damn!!!!

sus floated the theory of letting him walk then taking the money and spending it on positions of real need... fine... if they opt to not resign him.. then i god damn better well expect them to be aggressive and not this tepid poking around b******t we usually hear from lynch.. if they let him go. then poney up for whoever is next in the free agent list of a very very very good tackle.. and then you get the best center money can buy... i can not even begin to tell you how pissed i will be is if they let trent go. and then take the excess money and give it to solomon f**king thomas in the HOPES that we can just plug in some guy already on our team already on our already s**tty o line

It's hilarious folks are even taking about a QB with this crap line. Scares me what you said though about Lynch, PTSD from last year.

Is Williams interested in only taking around $5m this year though? He's getting older and probably wants the cash sooner than later.

Sinning bonuses are paid up front.

It is one way a "rich" team with lots of liquid assets can get an advantage

This is also why the Raiders had to trade mack and every star they had.

After paying for a stadium and grudens contract it was rumored Mark Davis was out of cash and couldn't pay up front for player contracts

Lol this. So much panic in here. If we get him at the deal proposed, great. If not, f**k him and his paycheck paying ass.

.... But but but you said fix the Oline (before the 2021 season) and Jimmy will be lights out.

How do you fix the line via FA by letting possibly the best OT in football walk????

This, in fact, makes zero sense.

Yeah but with the Chiefs it's overkill. The amount of money they are restructuring is rediculous. I am curious what their cap hit would be for 2021 if you took out all the restructuring they have done the last couple of years.

His agent is the one handling all of this. Unless it's a situation like Richard Sherman, who is his own agent, GMs can't talk directly to players during this time period. Until tomorrow, players are still under contract with their previous teams.

The player tells the agent what he wants and the agent them goes out and finds the best deal for his client.

The agent then presents the deals that have been offered and the player then informs the agent on which one he'll accept, and the agent then informs the team that the player accepted.

Williams doesn't have to be directly in his agent's office, this is something that can be done over a phone call.

It doesn't matter if he's in Mexico, San Francisco or anywhere on the planet, really.

I know that, but he can be don't bother me until I get back. If he's vacationing I doubt he's gonna be wanting to talk all day on the phone about this team that and that. The offers aren't going away for 1 and I'm sure he's not going to be there for months let alone weeks. I can easily see him wanting to take his time because of this.

Trent Williams has never been a FA.

He said he wanted to experience being wined and dined and see what teams would offer a franchise LT.

None of what is happening should be a surprise.
