That was like 6 years ago. I'm pretty sure both guys have moved past it.

I'm sure they will. Both are fierce competitors.

Still, it's funny as hell. Had to go rewatch the the clip about 15 times.

Settle down, we gained 11.5 that Joe made to help cover the 12.5 that Trents owed until we redo his deal. Cutting/Trading Goodwin and Thomas will get us other 8.4 ish as well.

STALEY RETIRES

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Wow, ShanaLynch have stones passing on Wirfs. It doesn't sound like the TW trade was done when they made that pick.

Absolutely stupid.

Wirfs is a RG to RT if needed.
Stupid. They pass on Wirfs, a talented 10 year tackle prospect. If they knew Staley was not coming back there was plenty of defensive tackles in free agency that cost what you're going to pay William's that would've been perfectly fine for the time being. Defensive tackles are a dime a dozen compared to talented offense tackles.

Adam S. confirmed Staley informed them of his retirement BEFORE the draft and they STILL passed on Wirfs.

Unreal.

That is a goddamn poker face, Lynch is a beast

Wait a minute...NCommand has been wanting them to address OLine and they walk away with a BETTER LT than Staley and there is still a problem?

Provided that Trent Williams is in shape and ready to go, the Oline is improved. Now we can focus on guard and center (I have no confidence in Richburg's health long term).

Huh? I have ZERO issue with the trade. Love it!

But you are talking about passing on Wirfs. Why?

Brunskill is our staring Guard for sure now, I am good there. Richburg and his lengthy injury history is my only major concern now.

Yup. I was dead set that Staley wasn't retiring based on what he said, but was sure to be gone next year. Now we aren't forced into taking a tackle next year. We have starting tackles for the forseeable future and two backups in Coleman and Skule. Now we just need to bolster to interior.
I don't know. I can see McGlinchey going into a psychological tailspin over Staley's departure the likes of which hasn't been seen since Britney Spears shaved her head.

Imagine if we added TW last year and moved him to RT and had McGlinchey train all off season at RG. We win the Superbowl with that talent.

Sorry, Bash may have been a strong word, as it pertains to your comment, but others are absolutely bashing him. But it seems pretty clear you are not a big Lynch fan
Btw Biadasz is still on the board. Wouldn't mind if they could somehow land him.

Oh. LOL. I didn't see those.

I love the regime...just not their very obvious blind spots and draft strategies/philosophies. That doesn't mean it can't work out. Lots of ways of team building. Look at this regime...massive high end 1st-3rd round fails and still a top 5 talent team!

But my standard is Superbowl. I don't think they've done enough this off season.

Wait a second, Somehow you acknowledge there are lot of different ways to build the team, but you clear said not drafting Wirfs was stupid, as if drafting an OL in the first round is the only way that make sense. These seems to be conflicting statements.

Passing on Wirfs makes much more sense now. When you consider that a future third is essentially viewed as equal to present day fourth round pick we got him long term for a 5th and 4th or as a rental for what would equate to a 5th and a 4th with us getting a third round Comp pick back. In other words the rental cost is more like a 6th or 7th in value. Ridiculous value on this trade. I bow to Lynch. Absolute stud of a gm.

No it's still a 5th and 3rd lol.

Also it would be a bad thing if he walks. Wouldn't the comp pick be for 2022?
What? Name the dozen now in 2020 fa.

But still Upset that we traded away more draft picks rather than players. We're way beyond that, we need to be trading players not picks. And the last thing we should have done after a draft with like a record breaking low amount of picks (4 now!) is trade away 2021 picks. We have no 3rd rounder next year now.
All we have left this year is a 6th an 7th. This draft is over. We came out of the 2020 draft with 2 rookies basically. Can't believe it.

I love that lynch is willing to trade an move around unlike baalke was but he's getting way too fluid an giving up way too many resources that we're gonna need in the future.

What if they don't want our players? Do we just pass on Trent Williams and role with Brunskill?

Now the Buckner trade and letting Sanders go doesn't look so bad. There is no way they could have done this if they had to pay those 2 all that money. $22 million saved for next year alone compared to the rookie contracts of Aiyuk and Kinlaw.

This had to be well planned and thot out in advance. Now how do the moaners like our GM?

Still not tracking. PM me. I don't want to derail the bitter sweet in here. I do very much love this trade!
Wow didn't even pay attention to the fact that Williams didn't play a single down last season due to his holdout?

I'm sure Lynch would have rather traded Goodwin and Brieda for Williams, but you can't force Washington to do that deal.
Welcome to the 49ers Trent!

Dude has some huge shoes to fill, so hopefully he's up to the task. I have faith in Kyle and Lynch though, so I'm expecting him to still be an elite tackle like he was 2 years ago.
