Stupid. They pass on Wirfs, a talented 10 year tackle prospect. If they knew Staley was not coming back there was plenty of defensive tackles in free agency that cost what you're going to pay William's that would've been perfectly fine for the time being. Defensive tackles are a dime a dozen compared to talented offense tackles.

How is it stupid, they just got a 7 time pro bowl LT for peanuts, so what they didn't know for sure on Day 1, they got him, can't people just be happy and not get all pissed off. Plus why draft a rookie LT to protect Jimmy, doubt a rookie would do well on a SB roster, sorry never happening. Plus Wirfs is a RT, not a LT, and MM isn't moving to LT.

Because they knew before the draft and there was no guarantee they'd get Trent Williams and they STILL went 3T.

And this:

Williams-Tomlinson-Richburg-Wirfs-McGlinchey is far more important a need than Armstead-Jones-Taylor-Bosa in a passing league.

Not to mention we have 100 other IDL that can rotate downs.

If Brunskill isn't the guy, Tom Compton is. LOL

I love ya NC, but c'mon man, they just got the 2nd best DT and a 7 time pro bowl LT, and getting WIrfs would be redundant IMO, he's a RT and RG, we're fine at those, Brunskill is a good player, they know more than we do, people always overreact, no need to do this. We have a great OL IMO, and Kinlaw is a better DT than Taylor or any of the other IDL we have, so I'm happy with this draft/offseason.

They were never gonna burn a top 15 pick on a guard. And there's no guarantee that Wirfs would be a top flight NFL LT.
Lets go!! Loved Joe, but nothing lasts forever. I still think we need to find another guard and hopefully Richburg can miraculously stay healthy for a full season. Just gonna have to make due at corner for now. Happy about the Williams trade though.
NFC West Teams are crazy!

Williams was the answer to our D-line swag. Can't believe the Seahawks and Cardinals didn't offer the world for him.

Imagine the Bosa/Dee Ford one on ones in practice vs TW?
Should have just drafted Tristan wirffs a far younger player and cheaper. Williams is a short term solution at a vital position.

Rams too, after all McVay worked with Williams just as long as Shanahan did.

FACTS @AB81rules!!

I don't really understand why people are in a tissy over this trade. This is a SB team poised to be back in the SB. We actually manage to GET BETTER, replaced top departures, while not having a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th round picks. I just don't think people really understand what Kyle and Lynch have just pulled off this weekend; and we still have player assets to trade for picks and two more picks with still yet really good talent draft with it. I fail to understand why people are pissed.

I thought the Rams had Salary Cap issues?

TW is a Aaron Donald equalizer too.

I wouldn't describe that as stupid. I would describe that as genius to be able to pull off this trade. This is what a big time GM does.

Can you or anyone explain how this is easily doable this offseason?

NOT to worry my friend !!

KITTLE and his reps are most likely talking to Lynch right now.. (KEEPING IT SILENT) ... and if Kittle is asking for $18 to $20 million a year, expect Lynch to trade the guy to San Diego for their 13th overall pick in 2021 NFL Draft!!

There is only one obvious open spot on the roster and that is RG. Even there, Daniel Brunskill has shown he can handle the job.

6th and 7th round picks are generally long shots to make a ST slot if anything. I would be all-in to get anything for Pettis but to give up solid backups like Breida and Goodwin for a long shot ST guy makes no sense.

And draft Wirfs would have been a MASSIVE downgrade

A lot of people see Wirfs more as a guard than a tackle. At best I think he's a right tackle. Not sure where this idea came from that he was this "can't miss" offensive tackle prospect. He's not your typical Iowa lineman where he's come out all polished with top notch technical ability. Despite his freakish athleticism, he didn't show it off consistently out on the field.

So you acquire Wirfs, who is far less than optimal as a tackle prospect. Now you go DT at #31 and get someone this is less than Kinlaw as a DT prospect. Then you go WR in the 5th and you get someone far less optimal than Aiyuk as a WR prospect. You've just shifted your draft class from quality to quantity and mediocrity.

Im shocked Daniel Snyder traded with Shanahan.

Now let's see Shanny trade Jimmy for Cousins go win a Super Bowl and really stick it to him!

If you think an AAF talent in Brunskill is in the same talent level as Wirfs, I'm going to have to slightly disagree with you. Wirfs also gives you the added benefit of keeping top talent at T should McGlinchey go down (he goes down every year with injury).
