I'm pretty sure if he plays well this year he'll get extended.

Heard this last year with E. Sanders.

AB?
If I heard correctly it's 1 year 12.5 M
I think so, so with the trades abs Staley retiring I think the niners gain 3-4 million in cap while still paying Williams as of now, might be wrong tho

I believe we made him an offer it just wasn't as much.

If he balls out and he signs a big deal elsewhere we probably get a 3rd comp pick.
Or we can franchise him

This. I can understand being skeptical about him a year ago but he clearly has the goods. He was the much better player between him and Skule and should be the favorite to start at RG.

What's kind of odd is they are restructuring him today to ensure they are under the cap, rookie pool, etc.
But that usually means lowering his cap hit and coverting that into bonus money...that's usually done by adding more years to his contract. Are they working on a real contract extension today?

Then he walks, the 49ers get a 3rd round comp pick in a year while having received a year of play from an elite left tackle.

We have a great OL IMO, and Kinlaw is a better DT than Taylor or any of the other IDL we have, so I'm happy with this draft/offseason.
If you think an AAF talent in Brunskill is in the same talent level as Wirfs, I'm going to have to slightly disagree with you. Wirfs also gives you the added benefit of keeping top talent at T should McGlinchey go down (he goes down every year with injury).
What does AAF have to do with anything?
Talent level.
Referencing AAF just seems to be a way to try and denigrate the guy. Not all good players are division 1 1st round picks....not even kind of. He proved last year he could play at a high level, so him coming from AAF means absolutely nothing .
Niners just drafted an OT in 5th btw. Not too familiar with him.
We should have drafted a number 1 TE with our 1st round pick. George Kittle is only a 5th round talent.
Lol
He's right. We should have. Had they known Kittle's full ability, he would have been a 1st round pick. Talent slips through the cracks all the time but comparing a consensus top 4 T, top 10 T to a player out of the AAF is a little odd.
No one is comparing Brunskill to him though. To try and say Brunskill somehow should not or cannot be the RG because he came from AAF is incredibly odd logic. If he's performing at a high level in the pros, why does it matter where he came from?
NC let's bet a 12 pack on who performs better next year between Brunskill and Wirfs. I'll take the AAF bum and you can take the HOF rookie we can try to figure out how to gauge the performance for the bet

Totally. I'd be elated to have him as the 6th OL. He literally can play 4 of 5 positions at a high level for games. That's proven.

True. I wouldn't have even considered Thomas in the dozen IDT's other than spot duty. I think guys like Taylor, Jones, Givens, Blair, etc. and who knows who else we add, already surpassed him. Ha
I'm speaking specifically about DT. I was high on Taylor and Street. Apparently I was higher than the coaches/front office was.

Sure bud! Wirfs is going to Tampa with Tom Brady and an all star cast on offense. You know he won't have to hold the ball very long there.
Of course, Brunskill has more experience in the system, the fastest QB release and a lot of playmakers too.
That'll be fun to keep tabs on.

a pro bowl left tackle is just a weeee bit more important than a middle of the road veteran wr
