Thats how we got him.

Trent is an absolute loyalty guy, if he feels betrayed its over.

I don't think so. Washington under Snyder was toxic to say the least, so that entire situation and how he felt was its own thing and probably understood. He loved Mike and Kyle. It's nothing personal. Just business. Greedy business lol

This is probably what Washington was thinking too.

Comparing the organization that pretty much told him his cancer wasn't a big deal to the current 49ers
Plus, he has gone on the record to say that he feels more like a Niner than a Commander/RS.
So this means he retires as a redskin

I cant believe they could not get this done already.
This is one of the most important players on your team.
They should even save cap space with extending him.

Whats holding them up here?

They need to know where BA's gtd money comes in. It's not only the amount that matters but the timing as well.

Also, Trent has missed nothing. He was never playing in any of these games and he doesn't need the reps.

He is 36 already, you can't keep extending him. I don't know what he is after, maybe making the final year of the contract guaranteed

They're not extending him. He just wants gtd $ and there isn't much of that at his point.

here's a rundown of his current deal

Trent Williams signed a six year, $138.06 million contract with the 49ers. Williams has $45.1 million in guarantees of which $40.1 million is guaranteed at siging. Williams received a $30.1 million signing bonus and his 2021 and 2022 salaries are fully guaranteed as is $1.25 million of his 2023 salary. If on the roster on April 1, 2022 another $5 million of his 2023 salary is guaranteed. 2024 through 2026 are options years. The team can opt into those years by guaranteeing $10 million more of Williams' 2023 salary by April 1, 2023. The contract contains annual per game bonuses worth up to $750,000.

I wouldnt worry about it. Its been super quiet from both sides. They will get something done, zero doubt about it.

The only reason Trent plays for the Niners is because he likes Kyle and has bought into him. Short of going to KC, Trent also knows there isnt a better team out there to give him a chance at a ring and a cherry on top of a HoF tackle career.
Deebo claims to speak to Trent most every day, and says he has no idea what Trent is going to end up doing.

Retirement is absolutely a possibility. How much of a possibility? Who knows

They are neighbors in Morgan Hill

Trent always brings up retiring.. so he's pretty close to actually doing it

This is what I was saying.

Without him we are just a regular team.

That may be what he's looking at. He may feel that he has one or two years left in him. Maybe he's trying to get that money moved up or guaranteed in the form of an annuity like Ohtani did with the Dodgers.

And SF doesn't have much of a choice here either. Aiyuk is at least somewhat replaceable whereas Trent isn't, he's a unicorn. It's become clear everyone is trying to get paid before Brock does which is kind of funny but also speaks to the confidence the players have in his ability.

Truth.

Im sure the 49ers want to take a hard line with him because of his age but they know they hold no cards right now. They have zero leverage. If they want him back this year they are just gonna have to pay the man what he wants.
