Pretty wild that they didn't see this coming and didn't even draft a guy to develop while this s**t was going down.
Wild? Dude has got 3 more years left

Nothing is guaranteed. I could understand why he wouldn't want to play preseason.
Seems like it would be good for him and us to sign a new deal, give him a guarantee and money up front which clears some cap space for next years big contracts.

Looks like they're trying to roll over as much as possible to cover next year's 38M deficit.
If he retires we'll draft early enough to get a tackle next year. All the "we should have drafted a tackle" misses me… we did, and he sucked. Now he's overpaid in Denver. Tackles are a high-risk draft choice, more so when you're drafting at 31

They can be if you are drafting 31. But not as much so if you are drafting top 10. Sometimes you hit too. Like Trent Williams 1 - 4 overall - 2010. He was easily worth that.

Yeah for sure.

f**king mcglinchey
Trent will miss 1 game at most because once John and Kyle see our left side getting murdered week 1 vs the Jets and Brock getting hit like 10 times, Trent will be signed the next day. This should come as no surprise to Lynch as he has watched Moore get destroyed by 2nd and 3rd stringers this pre-season. But yet here we are and Trent is still not signed and looks like there has been no progress.

Trent is a businessman. I think showing up for game 1 still nets him his weekly check. He still wants his guarantee and so do we for our future planning. I'm guessing he won't miss any snaps but will need game 1 to get up to speed.
I still don't understand why people are not bashing this guy more in comparison with Aiyuk.

Aiyuk is on the last year of his rookie deal, while Trent is under contract for another 3 years. It is a ridiculous to be holding out for this long with that many years on your contract. I say get your ass to to practice or get gone. If we give into this type of stuff, we are going to have are best players holding out every year looking for more money.

It is ridiculous, sets a bad precedent and he is already high paid. I think he wants more guaranteed.

No we won't. The niners are still a playoff team without Trent. Which means we're drafting in the 20s. Could've easily moved up into the 20s this year too.

This coaching staff doesn't care to draft OL high and they never will

I think that's a big mistake too. But what can you do with this current regime? That's how the really see it.

I'm thinking that they can build a wall on the interior of Kingston and Nugent pan out. Then just draft two tackles yearly until we can get 3 deep at the position lol.

They took McGlinchey at 9 overall. Banks was a 2nd rounder. Puni a 3rd. They don't do it often, but it has happened.

Then rotate in fresh OL all game until we wear the defense out!!! Genius.
