You just can't play here for this proud franchise, lose a Super Bowl then taint the organization with this loser school greed and whatnot right afterwards

Winners don't behave this way. Losers do. Had these guys won they could have asked to be traded to a bottom feeder and then cashed out on a loser that had no real skilled players to pay. But if you're gonna play here you're gonna do so the 49er way or hit the highway just as our alumni that have actually won have expressed

You can't have a new contract every few years when you are under contract. Already at a high salary. It can spiral out of control if you give into this. For the future of this team. More guys will do this. I know we need him so it's complicated. I think he's more important than Aiyuk. But it's a terrible precedent.

He ain't the best tackle anymore he's getting paid what he should be getting paid and not a dollar more.

What you do for yourself dies wth you what you do for others (in this case the team) lives forever in immortality.

I think that's probably true.
Well I won't knock Trent's talent. I have no problem saying he's still the best but I haven't looked much at others. My thing is this ain't the place to just cash out and guys have to understand that if they're going to play here. This is the place to play and win!

So if he's willing to drop that down and spread it out so that we can reduce cap hit and get himself a bit of guaranteed. I'm in...but I think the team needs to be careful to put some kind of protection from him retiring or faking an injury and taking the money and run. I don't think he'd do that, but I didn't think he'd renege on his contract either.

So many variables here, but I would understand telling Trent and BA good luck and call their bluffs etc.

I get it would most likely derail the hopes we had for this season, but tbh it may be the better route long term and in the end it is also their own faults for ignoring adding tackles.

And if that actually does happen, you damn well better believe I expect the FO to chase after Demo , Ward, etc and get them new front loaded deals since we have new found money.

I agree with this. Allowing players to extort paychecks is bad for the future.

Even if he is the best tackle he stands to make over 30 million the next two years of his contract. And he did sign that contract.

I have a sneaky suspicion that he wants to play this year but he isn't sure about next year or after so he wants some cash locked in no matter what. I'm okay with that as long as it also benefit's the cap situation for the 9ers.

He just wants some guaranteed money in case he gets hurt. His salary is already high. Plus he signed it. We shouldn't have to do anything. But maybe we can guarantee this year. If it will get him back.

I asked this question a few days ago. Why is it that these players sign contracts (sometimes max paid for the position at the time), then decide in the middle of the contract it's not worth it anymore and start requesting for more ? Front offices should coalesce and come to terms that any player that pulls this kind of stunt loses paychecks by not suiting up gameday.

I'm sick of Trent and BA. Don't want either of them at this point, regardless of the toll it will take on the roster.

If that's all it is, then I agree. But if that's all it is, I'd think it would have been done already...

And I am the opposite. I am sick of our front office screwing around and not going all in for a Superbowl this year. There is zero reason why BA and Trent shouldn't have been locked up at this point.

To say you don't care even if it hurts our team is insane to me.

Do the terms "integrity" and "principles" mean anything to you?
Or is it more about winning no matter the cost?
Of course we "care". But really whose being insane here?

PS: The sad reality is that the NIners will probably capitulate. I'd be so much prouder of the organization if they didn't. It's not a forgone conclusion that they cannot win without those Cretans.

No one knows what Trent is asking, but i do not think ANY WR out there is worth these contracts.
For BA here is 1 year $26m with a no franchise tag clause extension. You can be a FA in 2026 if you like.

What about the owners that cut a player in the middle of the contract?

So it's the FO not going all in. Interesting
