We signing him to an extension?
Be sure that it's already agreed upon. We're not the Rams with Ramsey.
One big piece of this: Had the #Vikings done the deal with Trent Williams, he would've gotten an extension. With the #49ers, no extension is included in the deal and none is imminent.

parameters could be agreed upon
Then a deal would be imminent.

how did we get to the super bowl?
Pass rush of AA, Bosa and Ford (some Buck too), scheme mastery, superior run blocking, rushing, clock control and 3rd down conversions.
Why did we lose?
Pass protection as a unit, soft shell defense in key situations, coverage breakdown, not coverting on timely 3rd & 4th downs (pass protection + good plays by their defense).

I'm still concerned about center..
Richburg doesn't seem to hold up, and his back up played well, like a back up.. we got our lunch money taken away on the inside O-line in the Sb..

Yes,...Trent and other players willing to sit pretty much always give better, good-located teams (like us) plenty of leverage over lesser teams.
The fact that he's willing to just hang up his cleats without a deal tells me he either just really loves what we're doing (unlike the clusterf**k Washington has been) or the parameters of the deal are clearly set. We have nothing to worry about. We're purging players as we speak.

So the OL was only a problem during the SB? Got it.

I don't know about an update (Staley top 5) but he is a top T! And younger. And healthier.
Why'd the 49ers release Mike Person? The $2.5m salary-cap break is nice, but it begins and ends with a need for better pass protection.

Person ranked No. 51 of 61 qualifying guards in PFF's pass-blocking efficiency. I wrote about this last month here: https://t.co/behnIHcqlc pic.twitter.com/wEXhz8gWbM

No, it was an issue the entire year. It was 'worked around' a ton...until the talent needed to stand on its own on the biggest stage. Like KC's did.

You should be. I wanted Ruiz badly but of course the Saints smartly got him.
McGlinchey goes down every year too. How about Trent Williams with a year off from football and no off season?
Every year, every OL on the roster will be starting games. That's just the system.

The OL was not a problem all year, they did great considering the injuries to Staley, Richburg, & McG. Person got worked over by Chris Jones and now he's gone. Brunskill is younger and better than Person at RG.

Not having to play for Washington is a reason to celebrate.
