See the bottom...pass blocking efficiency. That's for the whole year. As a unit, outside of Staley, they stink. And the FO once again, did nothing about it.

But we'll just keep blaming Jimmy Garoppolo.
We ran roughshod over teams,...and our QB kinda holds onto the ball too long,...so it clouds judgement.

No, it was an issue the entire year. It was 'worked around' a ton...until the talent needed to stand on its own on the biggest stage. Like KC's did.

The OL was not a problem all year, they did great considering the injuries to Staley, Richburg, & McG. Person got worked over by Chris Jones and now he's gone. Brunskill is younger and better than Person at RG.

Run blocking, very good. Pass protection, very bad. Hence why we passed the least amount in the NFL and had both Juice and Kittle, 7 staying in to help pass protect against 5 and were still failing in the most important 4Q of the year...the Superbowl.

Yes, it was an issue. THE issue if you really watched closely and paid attention to it.
We wouldn'tve been able to switch runningbacks like hats as the year closed and still give teams such fits in stopping our run game if our OL sucked. As is usually the case,..the truth lies somewhere in the middle. The edges are the most important places and are set. The middle of it is ok but is work in progress when it comes to wanting improvement,...as it should be.

Garoppolo literally has the fastest release time in football and that's WHILE running a play action system that takes 2 full seconds just to execute. And our pass protection was STILL terrible.

The odd part is thinking Wirf wouldn't be an immediate starting upgrade over Brunskill on talent and draft choice alone. We're trying to UPGRADE the IOL...not get by with hope and faith. The FO needs to learn from its mistakes. Superbowl was case confirmation 101.

how did we get to the super bowl?

Pass rush of AA, Bosa and Ford (some Buck too), scheme mastery, superior run blocking, rushing, clock control and 3rd down conversions.

Why did we lose?

Pass protection as a unit, soft shell defense in key situations, coverage breakdown, not coverting on timely 3rd & 4th downs (pass protection + good plays by their defense).

So the OL was only a problem during the SB? Got it.

The stats and rankings say otherwise NC

You know the good thing with the Trent Williams trade?
He won´t play for another NFC team.

False. Baltimore lead the league in least amount of Pass Attempts, 49ers were 4th lowest. Baltimore & SF were #1 & #2 in rushing yards. Gee I wonder if success running the ball had anything to do with not throwing it so much.

Be sure that it's already agreed upon. We're not the Rams with Ramsey.

parameters could be agreed upon

Then a deal would be imminent.

That's not the way the Niners like to do things.
Why get an agreement in place when you can always overpay later (Garoppolo), or give the player a chance to walk away if you don't massively overpay (Sanders)?
It's more fun that way. Smarter too.

Clearly the fix is a guard at 13. Because if the two other firsts and other 2nd on the line can't pass block it was all due to Person.

They tried to acquire Trent Williams during the '19 season. They must have had confidence in it was going to happen.

Did Sanders end up taking us to the SB?

How did acquiring Sanu work out for the Patriots?
