Larry is a dingleberry. The media can only watch the first couple mins of practice anyway.

Kinda surprised by this vs what was reported about his deal when his agent(s) tweeted out the details, seems like he lowered his 2024, 2025, & 2026 base salaries, got new signing bonuses that prorate right away, went down to $1.21M in 2024, $1.255M in 2025, & $22.21M from $32.21M in 2026, but he gets a $10M option bonus, according to OTC, his 2026 cap number went up by a bit over $2M, his 2024 & 2025 cap numbers went down by about $10M each yr, 49ers cap room for 2024 is $55.215M, 2025 is only $387K over a $280M cap, 49ers will be just fine come 2025, Idk for sure if Mooney will be back, after all of these CB deals, the highest is Ramsey, again, at I think $24.1M, not sure the 49ers want to go that high for a CB, DMo seems more likely to take less, like $15M a yr seems fair right now, but all depends on how he does this year, hope they keep both.

Uhh, I can't take Larry TBH, idk if he has a brother, but a Kevin Krueger now follows me on X, but as for Larry, he had Dobbs cut, he was right on Allen as QB2, which I am still shocked by, but I think it's more about the fact that Allen has a per game roster bonus where Dobbs doesn't, and the 3rd QB doesn't get any of their per game RB if they have one.

Hard to compare such different eras for sure.
I saw Belicheck on mcafee show say the biggest challenge was keeping a great roster because of the cap and that's what caught up to them in the end but believes he was able to sustain it very long because of having Brady and being fortunate with very good drafts through most of his tenure.
the funny thing is being punished for drafting so well. Our fo finds gems and they develop wonderfully but now we can't afford to keep them etc.
The way you beat cap hell is to draft well. It's that simple. Case in point, Brock Purdy and his rookie salary. It's when you don't draft well (Rams example) is where you get into cap hell. The Rams had to acquire very expensive free agents that blew up their cap after the Superbowl (just like the '94 Niners).
Agreed but it's easier said than done.
Also Belicheck mentioned he only did contacts withojt void years etc. You get what you get and he would include incentives for more money based on hitting performance markers etc.
He actually brought us up using void years. He said that can work, but eventually it catches up to you because something you didn't expect happens or doesn't workout etc so he didn't like doing that. But as we both alluded to. With the salary cap era, you must draft well and consistently. He also mentioned Purdy allowing us to have a stacked roster for 3-4 years. But said once the qb gets his money you lose a ton of flexibility. He's actually quite funny
Where is this interview at? I think it's very interesting. We are quite lucky with things going our way, but we definitely need to get the 2.0 version of the Shanahan teams. It's kind of underway already with Purdy as the QB (Jimmy G was over the 1.0 version).
I think the 2024 draft is a good start. Hopefully some more guys from 2023 can add to that (Brown, Moody, Luter, Beal, and Winters in particular).
If that happens and we can follow it up with one more exceptionally well draft in 2025, we'll be at or near the top beyond the 2025 season.
Definitely easier said than done because while many disagree with the lack of focus on Oline, we can see what the team was trying to accomplish by looking at some of the failed picks from 2020 - 2022. Kinlaw, Trey, Jackson, Latu, Gray had very good to elite athletic profiles. They've really gone after it in trying to stay ahead of the league in that regard. The effort I'd appreciated and I hope it pays off A LOT more with the last two and next couple of drafts. I was shocked that we had the oldest roster, but it makes sense with so many guys on 2nd or 3rd contracts and less than stellar drafting in 2022 (Purdy notwithstanding).

Id love for us to keep both, but Ward absolutely is a 20 million dollar guy and we cannot afford that. I'll just say he won't be back and we take the comp pick. I think Lenoir is for sure coming back unless he really insists on testing free agency because I'd imagine other teams cam blow away what we can offer.
Greenlaw is an interesting one. Probably owes it to himself to at least try the open market because again, other teams cam blow away what we can offer. If he does leave, I hope it's for an AFC team other than Baltimore, Kansas City, and Miami. The Chargers would be.cool, just because .

As far as cash flow goes, Trent gets $6.75M in more cash in 2024, $1.4M less cash in 2025, and is unchanged in 2026. That is before taxes. Additionally, he has mandatory fines he has to pay. In per day fines of $50,000, he racked up $2M total over 40 days. He also missed 3 preseason games, in which he has to pay a regular season game check per game missed. His salary at the time those fines were levied was $20.05M, so his per game fine is $1.113M, or $3.34M for the 3 games missed. With $5.34M in fines, it seems he actually lost money in the end.

From a math sense, he did. But he got guarantees, which is what we wanted. He went from $0 in guarantees to tens of millions. So I'd say it was worth it. He paid 5 million + in fines to ensure some security.

Yea, his salaries, signing bonus, and roster bonus for the next two years being fully guaranteed is nice.

Kevin Krueger is the name of one of his sons
He is a college kid but runs/produces the YouTube shows for Larry and has his own segments as well

Yes it seems the bonus that he got from lowering his 2025 base salary accelerates right away, that's what I assumed after seeing OTC's page for him, he should have a 2026 option bonus worth $10M for lowering his 2026 base down from $32.21M to $22.21M.

More money upfront. Sure, a $2M increase in 2026, but he's likely not planning to be here in 2026, so there is the common ground.

Didn't lose money at all if they simply gave it back in the name of signing bonuses. A veteran that's complained about the gruel of the long season and faces the most challengingly-athletic player snap in snap out was able to sit out camp and the preseason and not show up.
This can easily be a gentleman's agreement behind the scenes, lol. Considering the +/-,...not only does this money NOT come out of his incoming money, but he gets all of that, plus more, IMMEDIATELY.
We are simply tasked with the job of things like having to prorate the extra money it over the length of the contract for salary cap purposes. Considereing the fraction of it that hits this year, for example,...we are currently like $50M+ over someone said,...so what's a few million extra against the cap that goes to Trent immediately mean for us?
Aiyuk was the one to really figure out and Trent was likely a behind-the-scenes understanding all along once Aiyuk was done.
A win-win.
