Hindsight being 20/20, they should have let him retire rather than negotiate.

They weren't prepared for his level of negotiation. Trusted he would honor his contract despite being out of GTD money. Should have drafted a RT or signed one in F/A that could have swung to the other side the year prior. Waited one year too late and Trent took advantage of it as soon as he ran out of GTD money. Not blaming Trent it's his life he can ask for more as anyone would but this team failed itself thinking they had him in the bag without forethought to what could happen once he ran out of that GTD money.

Disagree. Ease of schedule. But, I don't think Trent is sniffing 10 starts, either. The 49ers will probably draft an OT. But it won't be a high pick.
