After those comments there's no way you can say he's only gonna be here for a yr

Lol nice.

But I will respectfully disagree. Dude had a deal setup with Minn and could have went to a lot of places...he wanted to play with Kyle on a SB caliber team.

Williams also elaborated on his relationship with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, who was Williams' offensive coordinator in Washington from 2011-2013.

"We just always had a real close relationship," Williams continued. "Even when he left, when he went to Cleveland and Atlanta, we always kept in touch. We talked about reuniting the day he left his office in Washington, and it was spoken into existence."

He will be resigned if he plays well.

I think we've got a real chance, no doubt. But it wouldn't surprise me if he also tested FA and went to the highest bidder too, which likely, won't be us.

Note i did acknowledge that Kwon was expensive. And no argument, $15 is big money for a guy who plays little. If we have an heir apparent, fine. But 3 LBs on this team, the next to most injured team the last 6 yrs....would be unwise. Hopefully we have that young man in camp. Thl makes the case above re: kwon's contract, however. So expensive yes, but alternative is even moreso...and Thl mentioned trade downside.

They can make him a post June 1st cut and save over $13M. Imo Dre is that heir, he's already a more complete LBer than Kwon has been. Kwon is a piss poor tackler always has been. Great in coverage, great energy, can't stay healthy.

Let Al-Shaair get more snaps at the SAM position. Kid was recovering from a ACL and MCL, I was actually shocked he played this yr. dude was a tackling machine at FAU.

FWIW i don't want people to think i hate Kwon, i don't wish they could keep everyone...facts are SF is gonna have to cut someone to make room for other dudes. Kwon is that guy imo....if he balls out this yr even better you can hopefully move him for something.

Remember in Harbs era when we paid Brooks, Bowman and Willis a ton, they were all LBs, so we afford to keep Kwon and Dre, plus Warner, and still have cap room to sign Bosa, Deebo and McGlinchey. Remember with Paraag we have a cap master plus as seen with AA and Ward their first year cap numbers will be low.

And no team is trading for an oft-injured LB with a $16 cap hit (2021 cap hit). This is because the 49ers re-structured Kwon's contract before they realized Greenlaw was damn good.

"Dead cap" is irrelevant.

All that matters is cap savings. If the team has more money to spend as a result, then it's a win.

This. They still have cash they can throw back into the cap by cutting him. There's still a savings there and much more if made a post june 1st cut

Brooks was on the field on passing downs rushing the passer, he's not the same player as Kwon. Not the same scheme imo

He's a vet who's already made his life altering money when in his prime. I'm sure he could get more cash from the Jags BUT I'm willing to bet he's done with playing on a trash team as well lol.

His odds resigning imo are much better than not

I can buy this. But we're going to need to be close in $...my guess.

They'll re-sign TW IMO, even at $22M a yr we can afford it. We will need to redo deals next offseason if the cap does drop(Jimmy, Kwon who I refuse to cut, Dee, Richburg, AA, and Ward), we'd be able to keep our core together with this.

If Jimmy and Dee would have their deals restructured now they'd save over $28.5M to carryover into 2021, not sure why Lynch hasn't done it.
What if Jimmy G wants to cash in too like every other QB's out there. QB's market has been skyrocketing the highest every year.

Got it. Is the $13.8 in savings all in 2021 (he'd be cut after 2020), or somehow spread over the length of his contract?

TW gonna beast. This Kwon cap talk is about how to get cap space to retain TW.
I am hoping we secure Kittle with an extension this off season in the 13-15 million a year range, so we have the franchise tag available for T. Williams after the season, assuming we can't get him locked into an extension before then.
