If this NFL season never happens, due to Covid, does it still count as one year on his contract? Are players still going to get paid if they dont play?
That was my concern also, someone said no and the year just pushes back.

But this isn't Madden, i think the NFLPA / Players would want their money and create a big deal about it.

It's going to suck if the season doesn't happen. We are finally in position to push for another ring and then BOOM. Sherm is another year older, Trent Williams is another year older, Jimmy is another year older, My dog (who I named Bosa) will miss his first NFL season

Yeah, Jimmy getting another year older is the one that gets me. He's going to be 30, by the time we start up again in '21.

No if there isn't a season (doesn't start) they don't get a accrued season.
Right that's if the season is cancelled today. but the NFL is still going on as planned. Now if it gets cancelled in preseason or after the first game.

Then that will be the big issue with money and contracts and fans losing a what could have been a great season

He's a QB, not a receiver/rb that's heavily reliant on athletic abilities. If the season doesn't happen, Jimmy is one of the least of my worries as far as missing a season.

Well there would more than likely be talks between the NFL and NFLPA on how many games constitutes an accrued a season...I highly doubt if they played say 3 games then had to shut down, that the NFL powers to be would simply be cool with that being an accrued season.

There will be negotiations about that imo.

Players get their base salary and bonuses only when games are played. no games no cash. If they play half the games then it more than likely will be prorated as such.

Just my two cents on it

If they play no games this season my guess is that it wouldn't count as a year against the contract. If they play some games then it might be something that gets negotiated.

Oh without question if there's no season, then theres no accrued season applied to players contracts.

Agree if some games are played there will be negotiations about cash/contract info prior to the season started imo. No way the NFL owners are gonna let guys get accrued seasons and closer to FA without playing a select number of games.

On the same token some players might greatly benefit from it. Dee Ford, ritchburg, possibly Taylor and Hurd If not 100% maybe Samuel.

And I only say Samuel because he is our future and I don't want him to get re injured when returning
I'm still shocked the team was able to acquire TW.

There's your pass-blocking

FWIW old enough to remember people in here telling me no way SF would trade for Trent
