With cap space they save by moving off from Jimmy, cutting Ford (post June-1st), Richburg, Gould....lower the cap in 2021 by giving Tomlinson an extension as well.

Use that post-June 1st cap space from Ford to give Warner an extension.

they save $32.5M by moving off Jimmy/Richburg/Gould (more with an Tomlinson extension as well)...toss in their cap space that they already have in 2021 (currently) and that's $57M+ in cap space, which is plenty of money to do what they want.

In 2022 with Jimmy/Ford/Gould/Richburg off the books they will have $120-$130M in cap space (and will need to get some players lol) before giving out extensions and upgrades. THATS what getting a rookie QB on a rookie contract can do for a team, basically resets the cap for SF.
Kid played well yesterday, didn't allow a single pressure vs that WFT DL.

I need to go back and re-watch. Him developing these next 3 games could be one of the team's biggest offseason stories.

I agree, if he could come in every game and show promise it would be awesome. Wish he had an opportunity way earlier.

This. We've been burned by small sample sizes before (while giving credit where credit is due too): Skule, Brunskill, Garland, and maybe McKivitz (because prior to this it wasn't pretty).

Rookie OL take time. If they want to add competition for him in the draft that's fine but wasting money on a FA RG would be stupid.

Agreed. We keep shopping at the dollar store for guards and wonder why they can't block anybody.

Yup. And we've heard it all with every one of those guys even with some pretty negative evidence.

Skule can replace Staley at some point
Brunskill can replace Person...now, McGlinchey
Garland is performing at Richburg's level
McKivitz just needs more time but arrow up
Tomlinson will get better at PP now that he's next to Williams
OL just needs more time to get (LOL)

...we know how this REALLY ends.

While I agree about not overreacting at small sample sizes this guy's last start was against the Rams and he did good as well. Maybe there is something, maybe there isn't only one way to find out.

Fingers crossed! It's just too bad we couldn't get a much larger sample size over the course of a season.

Exactly right.

Look like a LAR OL scenario...just like the one you love
Man IF he could lock down RG spot it would be HUGE. I'd kick Brunskill back out to RT battling Mike in the offseason. If somehow Mike gains weight in the offseason and wins the job then you have Brunskill locking down swing T. I'd ditch Richburg and keep Garland around as the backup C. I'd use draft capital from next season to move up for one of the big 4 QBs then use our 2nd rounder to go rookie Center.
