How did Colton do when he got reps this year? Can he replace Trent Williams if we can't retain Trent`s services?

Terrible for the first question. And lol f**k no for the second question.
well,. you got alot of people poo poohing the loss of trent so nothing shocks me

I don't think we are going to lose Trent. But as far as actually losing him, keep in mind it was Kyle that had a big role in drafting him, so I think (god forbid) if we do lose Trent, Kyle can draft another solid Left Tackle.

When did we start giving OC's credit for drafts?

I thought Justin Skule was the heir apparent to Joe Staley and now, Trent Williams.

Well, let me ask you why you think OC's have no input into a teams offensive draft picks?

Well, Skule and Trent are better than Beadles and Kilgore.
I just want McKivitz, Shon Coleman, and Skule to be solid backups. I don't expect anything more than that.

That's exactly what they should be. I feel far better with the depth than starters.

Sounds like a cage match!

I think McKivits can develop, keep in mind he's just finishing his rookie year. Skule and Coleman are good backups, agree on that. I don't mind another 4th or 5th round pick on the OLine position in this years draft to bolster more depth, and hopefully some of the depth players can become viable starters. Also, the offseason is upon us, and hopefully ShanaLynch can find another Laken Tomlinson 2.0 from one of the bottom feeding teams that is having a coaching/GM change. Time for ShanaLynch to fleece these kinds of teams this year on the free agent side for another possible super bowl run.

Heh, any heavy weight UFC fighters we can recruit to be backup OLinemen?

I think - depthwise though - we're light years away from 2017 and 2018 in terms of team talent. I think the injuries masked a lot of development from a lot of players that never translated into wins this year because of the injuries and inconsistent play due to said injuries.

Williams filled an obvious need at the time for them. Chris Samuels retired and they needed a LT. With that said, we can't act like we are replacing Kwame Harris here. This is a HOF LT. I'd rather sign him and try to bring in young talent to upgrade the O-line. I'm prepared for the alternative if we don't resign him however (should make signing our other top FAs easier).

I agree with you, position coaches and coordinators do have some input. But I'd credit that more to Mike than Kyle and it's not just because he's the HC/GM.

They shouldn't get blamed when their team's defense collapses either.

Very little. How many times have you ever heard about a coordinators hand in any draft pick? GM and the scouting department along with the HC are much more likely to habe vital info on draft picks.
OC has been spending his time gameplanning not scouting college players You think we traded Buck and drafted Kinlaw b/c that was Saleh's vision?

Personally I'd like for them to develop into starting level players. Hopefully Benton and his crew get that done this offseason. I think finding a good OLine coach is really hard nowadays with college OLinemen being taught totally different things vs the pro-level. Life would be so much easier if these coaches were plug and play.

Kyles dad had some of the best OLines in the business back in their day. Agree, if we do lose out on the Tent Williams sweepstakes, there will be a lot of cap space to sign free agent OLinemen, that's not what I hope will happen though. This team is better with Trent at LT.

I think transitioning from Staley to Trent was a brilliant move, too bad it was kind of wasted by the crap year we had.

Hopefully a young and talented LT and Center will be on this team after the draft, in addition to Trent. Hope hope.
