The Niners are screaming at you that they value this guy as a starter and people still question it??

They have absolutely nailed their calls on literally every other spot on the OL. Pretty sure that buys them the benefit of the doubt.

August 23rd, 2022. Nothing screams confidence like this. They kept Jaylon Moore over him. LOL

He was one of the 49ers' final cuts as the team dropped down to 53 players on Aug. 31.

They think he's a starter. Obviously.

You don't cut a guy you think is talented esp. at a premium position. This is what they do...overvalue their own and overreach in the draft. But yes, they clearly think he's a starter. That's the problem.

"I really feel like it woke him up," Kyle Shanahan said of the former fifth-round pick. "Not that he was negative before. I mean, the guy always works hard, but sometimes when guys get cut they realize how this isn't forever and how every single second counts."

I was about to search out this quote. I think we outta be more concerned about the 3rd guy than our starter. I hope Shanahan and Lynch are asked some questions about our backups at O-line, regardless of who they draft today.

Well? Do you think he's an upgrade over Mike McGlinchey?

In his small number of reps last season, 92 IIRC, he graded better than McGlinchey in both PP and RBLK.

Do I have a lot of confidence in him? No, not yet, but I hope he proves me wrong. What else can I do?

Haha. We all hope as well.

Like we've said so many times in the past when we've had a QB coming back from injury, 'hope' isn't always the best approach.

Great, so we have a 5th rounder who the FO didn't think was playing up to a level of even making the 53? And now he's magically better b/c we cut him? Lord. We as fans can justify anything, LOL

That too. Colton was cut for J.Moore initially. And that guy will now get cut this year...like Colton last year. Maybe he'll become a FT pro bowler for us next year as a result. Haha

Says the guy who wanted to sign a center the Ravens cut twice.

Who? Did we sign him? Then I justified it? Haha

I/we as fans didn't justify anything...simply pointing out the coaches own words on that subject.

Ryan Jensen.
Good his name comes up @ this time because,...for everyone in other threads hoping and praying that we take a "safe" OLinemen with @ least 1 of our 2 highest remaining picks in the 5th,..... let's remind ourselves the McKivitz and Jaylon Moore are our last 2 5th round OL picks by this staff.

Given the round, were they good moves? And are you willing to wait for development if we go with OL in the 5th?

Haha. Clearly,...he's got this "who to draft & sign" thing all figured out.

Ryan Jensen.

He was my #1 C over Richburg. Richburg was my #2. What needed justifying? I was right on that one.

So this is my take on Jaylon Moore- obviously a guy they liked enough to draft in the 5th in 2021. He made a few starts and played well enough as a rookie. Then came that dreaded preseason game where he just totally whiffed multiple blocks. I don't remember him playing in the regular season, but stats said he had two starts. I think he must be a REALLY GOOD practice player, because there is no way Moore gets into that game they he blew without the coaching staff knowing he was going to be that bad. It had to be totally mental. That's the only thing that makes sense. While I think he can recover, I still can't trust him and hope we get someone that can compete. There's still a small chance you can find good talent at OT this late- it's just not likely. For our sake, I hope Moore is the real deal because I don't think the value will be there in the 5th.

He's proven that he improved since then.
