No CB drafted?
I think KS and JL did an amazing job getting players when they had little to work with. I understand their desire to go with a disruptive DL player, although I think the team has too much invested in this part of the team between Bosa, Ford, Arik, and Sully already.
But I am concerned that CB will become a glaring weakness in 2020 season. I was hoping that would be shored up with some premiere talent in the draft.
Sherman - we all know his age, and the biggest thing with age is that it shows itself as a season wears on. The older body just doesn't bounce back and stay fresh like young guys. And CB is a very hard position to protect with rest - starters are needed every defensive snap. I wonder with his instincts and knowledge if he could transition to safety, but the longer that waits the less likely it is as FS's do need some speed to get to the deep corners.
The other guys have done well, but that seem just shy of being legit starters for a full season. Ahkello has the skills and physical traits, but can't seem to sustain his mental and physical techniques; Moseley has the heart, but is just shy of having elite traits. K'Waun is great in the slot, no complaints there. They've talked up Harris, but we don't know anything about his starter potential after being on IR last year.
Thoughts on how this might play out??

Akhello is good depth. I think Mosely is a legit starter and #2 CB. We will roll with Sherm for one more year. Williams is a good starter and DJ Reed is not terrible depth behind him in the slot. Verrett we will see if he can regain some form.
I think we will be ok this season and clearly CB is our #1 priority going into next year after acquiring Trent Williams. Brilliant move as can get a CB with our #1 pick next year. I will be SHOCKED if we don't go CB at #32 in the 2021 draft.

I've said it before, but the team really likes Tim Harris, provided that he can stay healthy. We'll see.

Priority UDFA signings coming up. Some not bad ones if they don't get drafted in Barcoo, Bassey and Jackson

I'm not going to dig for every nugget. But by way of example, John Lynch said just the other day that Harris had an excellent camp last year.

Get a number 1 next year. Looks like we get a LT for e few years secured. So Secondary can use an upgrade

Our DL will make this secondary look good again.
Weren't they #1 against the pass last year?
If our DL wasn't held on that 3rd and 15 in the SB this secondary wouldn't even be thought about for an upgrade.

Sherman is getting older but two guys who will only get better from 2019 are Spoon and Mosely. For sure we have two legit starters in Sherman and Mosely.
Mosely for sure is going to take a step up IMO. If Spoon makes a leap, great. If not, he is a good backup.
Verrett is also someone to keep an eye on. Guy was never healthy and he has another year of recovering and learning the defense. He is just an added bonus if we can even be 70% of what he was
Notable free agents we can start to target in the FA pool is Logan Ryan, Trumaine Johnson, Darqueze Dennard, Aquib Talib, and Price Amukamara. These guys are not starters and i wouldnt bet on them having a resurgence to pro-bowl form, but they would offer more skill to our depth that most rookies we could of drafted wouldnt have.
