He signed a 4 year deal. He's getting over $16 Million for each of 2021 and 2022.

AWESOME !! we set at the LB position then !!!
I'm not sold on Kwon being very good. It wouldn't surprise me if Greenlaw was the better player already.
Kwon is the heart and soul of this defense. He sets the tone and brings the energy

I'd say each has their strengths and weaknesses. We're lucky to have them both.

But we overpaid to get Kwon when we were an unproven team. We're going to need to release him next offseason or the year after. Greenlaw has an opportunity this season and next to show his value if we extend him past his rookie contract.
Greenlaw has the ability to come up with the big play.

I actually think Dre is the more steady player whereas Kwon is inconsistent, in comparison, but has more potential for the big play.

I had wanted open competition, but I see a drawback to that. I think Kyle is playing it right (safe) naming Kwon as the clear starter. Keeps young Dre humble and should Kwon get hurt again, Dre is ready to rock. Whereas having open competition could rub Kwon the wrong way, and if Dre wins, now there's a highly paid vet that is possibly disgruntled.
The question is who to keep in during the Nickel Package as Greenlaw is the starter at SAM, Kwon is the WILL and Warner is the MIKE in the base package all three are on the field. I dont think this is a question about starting its more so about passing downs.
We can't judge Kwon by what he did last season, especially in the playoffs. He was nowhere close to 100%. I actually find it amazing that the Chiefs are getting all this talk about being unstoppable and the next dynasty and yet the Niners had a 10 point lead with 9 minutes left despite all their missing players and other guys playing nowhere near a 100% while the Chiefs were pretty healthy and the most part was at full strength.
Kwon is the starting WILL as Shanahan said but the guy is way too unbalanced between coverage (great) and run support (missed tackles) while Dre is more even between both.

Also, Kwon hasn´t shown he can stay healthy.

Kwon was signed here for turnovers. He was a turnover monster. And still will be if he can stay healthy a whole season. I think everybody forgot that like he led the league or was close to leading the league in fumbles. I remember John Lynch specifically saying we had a problem with turnovers. And we fixed that by bringing in kwon

And Greenlaw starts at SAM in the base we have all three on the field, in the Nickel typically passing situations is where the conundrum appears to be.
