Would you attend a 49ers game this coming season if you had to sign a waiver taking respo?

There is also reason to believe that there are cases of COVID deaths that have gone unreported. Nobody knows for sure. This is a really tough time since this virus is new and we don't know if it will die down in the summer or not. Here in Eugene they started reopening last Friday and I saw a lot of cars in the restaurant parking lots. I also saw a fair number of people not wearing masks in the supermarket. It seems like some people have just decided on their own that they've been cautious long enough and it's time to get back to normal. Problem is the virus isn't gone and infections will rise if people don't take precautions.

There are a lot of underlying conditions and they aren't limited to older people. Asthma and type 2 diabetes both are common in younger people and can cause complications if you get COVID-19. Hopefully we will get a vaccine sometime next year but I won't be surprised if we have to get a shot every year to protect against whatever strain is circulating. They already have found 30 different variations of this thing so like the flu there may need to be a different vaccine every year for it to be effective.

I agree that we can't stay quarantined forever but I'm also skeptical of the general public using any kind of common sense. Based on what I saw last Friday with people acting like everything was fine I'll be surprised if we don't see new cases in the next 2 or 3 weeks after going 2 weeks without any new cases. If that happens the stay home orders are probably going to go back in effect. The number of cases in the U.S. are continuing to go up. Texas is starting to see a big spike over the last week. You can't just look at what' going on in your town and make your judgement based on that. If people would use common sense when out then I would feel more confident about reopening but common sense and humans don't seem to mix.

Agreed.

There is a thread dedicated to the virus. Please use this thread to discuss its impact and latest news:

In this NinerTalk thread, discuss this thread's original topic of, "Would you attend a 49ers game this season".

Have numbers been padded? I think there's some truth to that.

On a personal level (like I said above) I live in a state that has experience a f**k ton of deaths...I have friends who worked directly in NYC in the hospitals. They're not lying. At one pt one death related to COVID symptoms every 20 minutes. People being put in induced comas (and on ventilators) because of stress on the body, only to wake up missing limbs because of blood clot issues. That's real life my man. Saying it's a glorified flu is a ignorant statement imo...It most certainly is not.

I do agree we've since flattened the curve (where I live) and it's time to start re-opening things it should be looked at based on area IMO...people just need to be considerate of other people around them going forward...Be clean and actually give a s**t about the person next to you.

The problem here is that some people are not considerate. Those who believe it's a hoax (or similar) won't give a f**k because to them it's not so real anyway. They don't like or accept scientific or medical evidence if it goes against their life narrative.
If 95% of medical said it's all bollocks, they'd shout it to the world.
If 5% of medical said it's a load of bollocks, they'd would shout it out to the world.
There is simply no reasoning with them.

As to whether I'd attend a game with a waiver, if I could get over there, you bet
Absolutely, plan on going to New Orleans actually

This. I am looking at an away game, and think the New Orleans game will be the one. That stretch of games will be brutal, but the the super dome looks amazing. Covid 19 will not stop me from living my life.
Getting back to the original question. What good would a waiver do? It's a worthless piece of paper. If you contracted the virus how would you prove you got it from attending the game so there's no need for a waiver. The real question is will the local governments or states allow it. If all don't agree there will be some stadiums with fans and some without which raises the question of home field advantage.

The Super Dome is many things. Amazing, at least depending on the context is not one of them. Nevertheless, Godspeed.

I've been to the Superdome and watching games indoors sucks. I found the lighting and echoing sound to be a turnoff. The people down there are great. Really friendly. I think it's because they're all half drunk since they serve booze everywhere. It's worth going for the food.

"Pre-existing conditions" is being used to muddy the conversation.
In a vast number of cases, these conditions are totally under control and are no longer life threatening to the individual.
Enter covid.
Person dies, but they have "pre-existing conditions" so not the viruses fault, therefore we should be allowed in nightclubs or whatever.

Also, a lot of people don't know they have one of these "conditions" because it hasn't been diagnosed yet.

Russian roulette anyone?

My buddy caught the virus and survived, he had high blood pressure and diabetes.

However, he was told he was one of the lucky ones.
To the original question: I am a season ticket holder and plan on attending games if the state allows for it. I haven't missed a home game in two years but due to the economic situation that the virus has created, I may end up selling the tickets for half of the games (assuming there is a market or demand for them).
No, I would not attend if I had to sign a waiver. Two reasons:

1. It is a clear overreach by the government.

2. It means nothing. My medical insurance would still be in place but it only covers me.

All of these restrictions on sporting events will be remembered when it comes time to vote.

Nearly 100K dead isn't an overreaction, there's a good chance no fans will be allowed this year, this Coronavirus may never go away.

That's what the government wants you to believe. Every death in America since Covid 19 hit has been ruled Covid 19 related. I guess Americans stopped dying from cancer, heart attacks, etc. The hospitals have been getting a $13,000 kickback for Covid ruled deaths from FEMA. This virus has been totally over blown. There have been more deaths from the flu virus then covid. Less then 1% of the entire country has been affected by covid. You quarantine the elderly, small children and people with low immune systems/preexisting conditions but what you don't do is shut the entire country down, kill the economy and give away free money.
