Isn't he only on a 4 year deal though? Only 1st rounders have the 5th year option. He'll make 2.2 this year then he gets tagged at 10 mil next year with 20% raises on each additional tag.
This is the number that parag starts with then you have Hoopers contract.
2020- 2 million
2021- 10 million
2022- 14 million (just thinking 40% more)
thus three years 26 million he is under contract. Any offer that they want over 20 percent of hoopers would be crazy. So 4 years 48 million. That sets the market.

I'd love for something around 5yrs $70M with something around $30FGTD...that's a whole lot of cash.

PFF's #1 ranked player in the league. Pay this man his money. I say 5 years/75M fully guaranteed.

Fully guaranteed is not realistic...one player in the history of the NFL got that and it was a QB on a 3 yr deal.

It is realistic to NOT do a LT contract with Kittle right now , depending on how much of a season we get to have. Certainly for the 49ers, and to some extent, same for Kittle. If we factor in no Fans in the stadium for first half season., that cuts cap down by a good chunk, and that would have to be factored into any contract redone right now. So it would help both parties to get beyond the covid issue, and then see where we are. the way things are going, with protesters in streets of all major cities and very few are wearing masks....there could be a massive explosion of covid in 14 days just based on protesters. So new contracts right now....Nah, let's get past this damn covid virus and then make contracts/

I just went to Jack Bechta's website and his roster of players is kinda meh.
He probably sees Kittle as generational and is going to try to capitalize for his own brand.
Of course he wants the bragging rights of saying he set a new market for tight ends.
This is all about the agent at this point.

Love me some GK85 but lets not get crazy. He was called George BRITTLE for a reason. His playing style often gets him injured. Can we put some injury clauses in the contract? Play less than 80% of the snaps and your contract is dramatically reduced?
Love his personality but he is not the leader of the team. He is just to "fun" and goofy. He is much more talented than everyone on the team but wants to be one of the guys. Is he going to hold people accountable for mistakes? Is he going to have the hard conversations? I was shocked to see that he we are not close in contract talks.. i'm like bro... come on now... Don't destroy the team because you are getting interviewed for stuff and your head is so gigantic that it doesn't fit in Levi's stadium... I was shocked the team was going after Austin Hooper... Something seems off here.

and then what? Pay him considerably more money than the TE position allows? I supposed JG should just throw the ball to GK every down? Come on man, play chess, not checkers. If you pay him you cannot fill out the roster and have to take more chances in the draft. We already let Buckner (Allpro DL walk) and gambled in the draft on Kinlaw... i hope that s**t works out.

George is the heart of the team - can't put a price on it.

I have no idea what you're trying to debate?
Giving him $75M FGTD
IS paying him even
MORE than "considerably more" compared to any TE. That's MORE FGTD cash then Russell Wilson got on his newest deal
Jimmy G got like $48M.
End of the day the GTD $ is what matters....you can manipulate the cap to make it work, can't do s**t when
ALL his money is FGTD. So your analogy of playing chess, not checkers makes absolutely no sense.

The structure of salary by position is about to be blown up. Sure I want Kittle to be a 49er but at what cost. I think if you're thinking long term success look to the Belichick model. He never overpays, even for his franchise QB. It seems the Niners Coach and GM know how to play the game for sustaining the winning edge. If they can get two number one's and a four go for it. Let some other team blow up their salary cap for the present and into the future.
