What's Kittles Value?

Love me some GK85 but lets not get crazy. He was called George BRITTLE for a reason. His playing style often gets him injured. Can we put some injury clauses in the contract? Play less than 80% of the snaps and your contract is dramatically reduced?

Love his personality but he is not the leader of the team. He is just to "fun" and goofy. He is much more talented than everyone on the team but wants to be one of the guys. Is he going to hold people accountable for mistakes? Is he going to have the hard conversations? I was shocked to see that he we are not close in contract talks.. i'm like bro... come on now... Don't destroy the team because you are getting interviewed for stuff and your head is so gigantic that it doesn't fit in Levi's stadium... I was shocked the team was going after Austin Hooper... Something seems off here.

He's a team captain for a reason. He is a good leader. I don't know where you're coming up with him having a big head. Dude is humble. He's missed 3 games in 3 years and still almost has 3,000 total yards. He's not brittle at all.
As often in cases like this,...the repetitive posters that purport to know the most, know the least.

Kittle's value is going to skyrocket after this next TV deal when it comes...which is why the 49ers have a huge interest on getting a deal done ASAP. It's risk/reward for both sides and so we can't prove who's winning or losing with a player like this in limbo an extra year if the idea is to sign him regardless.
He deserves to blow the lid off the current TE market.
IMO, anywhere from 13-15.5M a year for 5yrs with at least +48M gtd. Not only he'll reset the TE market, he'll also be paid as a top 10 OL and WR.
Someone really said Kittle isn't a leader?

I would argue he may be the best leader we've had in recent memory in terms of the positivity he gives off. You want your leaders to be good players and sacrifice their body for the team which Kittle does every single week.

Every player has a price but I'd be willing to back up the brinks truck for Kittle.

There will be people trying to discredit everything about his greatness because they think if he gets a huge deal that we can't keep or sign other good players.

He's the best TE and I think by a good margin. He has no flaws in his game or personality.
he deserves whatever he can get, from us or from some other team. With the way football destroys your body, I can't be mad at a player for ensuring they get whats right for them and the risk they are taking with their life.

That looks reasonable to me, in Shanny's offense he should get somewhere in the middle of best TE and #1 WR money. This shut down and salary cap reduction due to no ticket sales is being faced by everyone this year. Actually the longer this drags out probably best for Niners cap and Kittle's paycheck.

The structure of salary by position is about to be blown up. Sure I want Kittle to be a 49er but at what cost. I think if you're thinking long term success look to the Belichick model. He never overpays, even for his franchise QB. It seems the Niners Coach and GM know how to play the game for sustaining the winning edge. If they can get two number one's and a four go for it. Let some other team blow up their salary cap for the present and into the future.

Yes.....I am for the long term success over any player.

Fair. Not over 14M. Add incentives if need be.

Yeah, $75M, 5 yrs. I think is the sweet spot - that should be fair for everyone.

Didn't Jimmy Graham have this battle with the Saints? George is worth whatever the team is willing to give him, but I do not see him breaking the team in the process. $15 a year sounds about right though.

15M makes it 42% more than the currently highest paid TE. That's too high. For Kittle to get that without incentives to reach that number, is not going to happen. We have to be careful not to compare him to WR pay. He is mostly defended by safeties and LB's, not CB's. Very good RT's make around 10M. Kittle benefits from Kyle scheming him as the #1 option. That could change as early as next year with our WR group if all remain healthy and if McKinnon can be what Kyle foresaw when he traded for him. Kyle is our most valuable piece. We need to make sure we don't lose him. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about salary caps for coaches.

Wow that's a big difference, for some reason I assumed Hooper got more than he did.
