I'm sure kittle wants to get paid, but I'm hoping he also has some common sense in these negotiations.
I think $13 million/year is fair for both sides.

Agreed, somewhere in this range. Up the guaranteed dollars to make it more lucrative.

I think $15M/year, gets it done.

Maybe, also some don't need a TE like Kittle in their scheme. Kyle didn't "need" a TE like Kittle when he was calling plays for great offenses like Houston/ATL.

Love Kittle, he's the man and I hope he stays in SF for his whole career. You can't just give him a blank check.
But NY, a kittle is what makes teams win. He has the desire, not to mention the talent to bring that "whole lot of something else" to the table. The winner's table. So in this one case, i would pay him what i would not pay any other TE coming down the line. Geo is one of a kind. You would just like to bottle it up and paint all your players with it.

Basically, it is a guy who has "IT" . And last two we had of those we had in the Glory yrs. Both Joe and Jerry. Both had "it". Sure they had a lot of help around them but both guys had "it". Well , 30 some yrs later, we got another one. Fortunately. I didnt say $20, i said i would settle at $15.

In 2022, the 49ers can give Kittle the franchise tag again. That would give him a 120-percent raise, and pay him $12.7 million.

And in 2023, the 49ers can give Kittle the franchise tag a third and final time. He would receive another 120-percent raise and earn $15.3 million. Then in 2024, when Kittle is 30, he can be a free agent. But the 49ers would have paid him only $39 million from 2020 to 2023, as opposed to $90 million for five years."

Per these #s, that averages out to about $10.18 Million over 4,.... and $12.87 Million the last 3.

Perhaps Kittle going this route is a risk, but if we're talking $13 Million a year to guarantee his services, where is the reward???

This is alot more interesting than any other deal there is for the 49ers to make, IMO. Because if you aren't going to pay a guy like Kittle,...then just who exactly are you willing to pay?

Like the article says,...the agent's just doing his job,....shouldn't be any cause for alarm aside from that. But the pressure is certainly on the 49ers to "do the right thing" if Kittle hasn't lost a step after being woefully underpaid the past couple of years.

Nice, thanks for the numbers...you gotta think those #s are the starting pt for SF in contract negotiations.

A lot of teams have "it" players. Maybe you don't have a Kittle BUT you have a Kelce/Devante Adams/ertz etc...

I'm also talking form a personnel standpoint. Not every team needs a badass blocking TE who's a great pass catcher...it's certainly a huge plus and great for SF.

The Saints certainly didn't suck with Jimmy Graham who never blocked. They didn't suck after he left either. Did the Rams suck the yr they went to the SB not having a top end TE? Nah they used all their WRs

Do we think there would be teams lining up to pay Kittle like Julio Jones? It's debatable.

Coaches would literally fistfight over the right to sign George Kittle,..if they could. I think it's just that you selfishly want the most we can get out of all of our great players so we can win as many games as possible,...which isin't at all a surprising view of a fan. I'd just suggest a lil more realism,...Kittle's extremely valuable and players like him dont grow on trees.

Coaches aren't the ones that deal with the cap in most cases...I'm sure every single coach would love Kittle and figure out how to uses him. Would a GM want to pay him $18-$20M? Like I said that's debatable.
I think 15m base plus a few mil incentive based pay, gets it done. If we win a superbowl with kittles, then heck yah give him a 1m or 2m bonus. Cheers!

Well our coach named his dog after Kittle so Lynch you better get this deal done or the dogs gotta go also.

Actually in 2023, he would get 144% raise from 15.26 which would be 21.98M just to be accurate

Kittle is terrific but the team can't let his agent put a gun to their head especially under the current circumstances relating to the pandemic and the uncertainty surrounding next year's cap number. They have plenty of other players that they will need to take care of in the next few years. How many players is Kittle worth if the agent tries to force them to sign him to some outrageous deal ? Does that mean they have to say goodbye to Trent Williams next year, or K'wan Williams, or Tartt or Sherman, or Juice?

What about when Fred Warner's contract is eligible for extension after the end of this year. Does he become expendable as well, just so they can pay Kittle? I am all for George making his money but not at the expense of having to get rid of a bunch of other players to make it work financially. The team is in their Super Bowl window right now. You can't gut the core of your team to make room for one guy.

I think the team should just set the price they are willing to pay, which I assume would be a fair one since they are fully aware of Kittle's value, and tell the agent this is the offer on the table. If you don't like it we will just franchise him for the next three years and pay him the going rate. If Kittle wants to hold out and ruin all of the good will he has built up with the fan base then let him. My feeling remains that Kittle will play for a fair deal and it is his agent that is pushing all of this unicorn s**t. Because that's what agents do.
