Coleman should have been cut before half of his cap hit became gtd

I think Coleman was Shanny's favorite, but Mostert kept balling.

I'm putting both on the roster as of now,...but I admittedly need to see more from the much taller Ahmed.

As for Hasty,...he's on the short side but more of a freak, athletically.

As I posted elsewhere,...that 4.03 Short Shuttle as a RB,... no other RB was anywhere around it this combine. IMO it's really a time to take a few glances @ when you remember he showed up there @ 205 lbs.

Only a couple corners @ the combine outdid that short shuttle, both weighing more than 20 lbs less that Hasty.

No doubt his lower COG benefits him in a test like the short shuttle but lateral quickness is lateral quickness. The downside with him has been his blocking. If he can completely dedicate himself to blocking like a mini FB, his spot is cemented, IMO.

Yup he was in the 95th percentile like to see his 10-yard split, but all the other explosive measurables are top end as well

Matt Rule had nothing but great things to say about Hasty.

Check that 93rd percentile 10-yard split and 2nd overall SPARQ score in the draft

If they trade Mostert, both these guys could make the roster. If it's only one, I see Ahmed getting on the roster first. He's too explosive to keep on the PS...I'm sure Coach was stoked when Lynch signed him as a UDFA. Hasty will make the roster in due time if not right away. He does many things well and those kind of players are always in high demand. It's a very nice luxury to have them both. Mostert could be traded, Coleman's in the last year of his contract. Only a matter of time for both guys.
Hasty. In fact I have him making the team.
I posted this somewhere else, but here are their PFF draft guide breakdown....

Jamycal Hasty

JaMycal Hasty was a coveted four-star recruit coming out of Texas' Longview High School in 2015. He chose Baylor over offers from Houston, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Oregon, among others.

"Hasty has as many ankles saved in his closet as any running back in the nation over the past few years. His jump cuts are special and embarrassing for opposing defenders. There's not much to him, however, and those jump cuts rarely did much on traditional runs. He's a scat back through and through without exceptional speed or power to add to the mix. That has value in the NFL, but there are a lot of players around the league who can barely see playing time with that skillset."

Pros:
-LeSean McCoy-esque make ya-miss jump cuts. Lateral agility a plus
-Runs hard. Can run through arm tackles despite size.

Cons:
-Very undersized. Not your between the tackles runner
-Doesn't have 'take what's blocked' mentality. Too often stalls looking for better options.
-Ton of yards came on bounce out plays. Not nearly as sustainable in NFL
-Tiny catch radius as a receiver. Not going to be used downfield.
-Liability in pass pro at his size. Gave up 14 pressures this season

Comp: Justin Forsett

after combine (already posted #s)... It's no surprise that Hasty clocked the best shuttle of any back at the Combine --the man has some serious bounce to his game. Weighing over 200 pounds is also a win for him

BOTTOM LINE: Hasty has prototypical scat back traits. He relies on making defenders miss completely, though, which won't happen nearly as often in the NFL. Still, he's a tough ask to bring down one-on-one in the open field.

draft grade: 6th RD

Salvon Amed

Coming out of Washington's Juanita High School as a four-star recruit at 6-foot, 185 pounds in 2017, SalvonAhmed had more than 10 Division I offers and took visits to Notre Dame and the University of Washington before committing to the Huskies

"I get why Ahmed declared early, as the clock is ticking for every running back in the NFL, but he runs the risk of not being drafted altogether. He does not project well at all running between the tackles in the NFL, as he needed gaping holes to make things happen. You could work with that if he had elite speed or elusiveness, but neither of those were present in his career at Washington. I'm not sure if there's any area where he separates himself from the many others at the position."

Pros:
-Pads stay square to the line of scrimmage. Looking to get north south
-Can get up to full speed quickly. Agility is a plus.
-Only 3 drops on 54 catchable in career
-Had big year as a receiver in 2018 averaging 10+ yards after catch on 21-21 targets

Cons:
-Slight build for a running back. Under 200 pounds and plays like it.
-Not particularly elusive. .16 forced miss tackle rate is on the low side
-Stops feet or slows to crawl in backfield too often.
-Wants massive holes. Will hesitate into tighter spaces
-No churn to his lower half

Comp: Armando Allen

after combine (already posted #s)...That's not the speed we thought we'd see from Ahmed. Not even getting to 200 pounds is concerning as well.

BOTTOM LINE: Ahmed is on the smaller side for the position and below-average athletically. Those two don't quite mesh in the NFL. His indecisive running style will do him no favors, either.

draft grade: 7th RD UDFA
