Agree about the virus. At some point if too many players/teams are out, the season will be cancelled. But this isn't going to be a normal season either. Never was going to be with the Virus - so whoever wins the super bowl this year, if there is one, is going to have an asterisk by it. Vaccine, by my reading of what's going on in Vaccine-land, is on track for early next year to be implemented. If so, then 2021 will be probably the most normal season we'll have with the virus. Till then, whatever happens this year is not really going to count in my book, even if we win the super bowl, our 6th Lombardi will always have an asterisk after it in my mind. Don't get me wrong, I *still* want that 6th Lombardi - virus or no virus!

All good points. No way will this season be viewed as normal no matter what happens. Every week there is something new. This past week the Big Ten and PAC12 announced only conference games will be played. The other power conferences are likely to do the same. The next step will be to scrap the season if this virus keeps spreading at the rate it is now. Will the NFL follow? It only takes a few key players to opt out for the whole league to shut down. To play what is already a messed up season and put players or coaches at risk seems kind of silly. The revenue will be down since there won't be full stadiums or maybe no fans. That means no parking or concessions either.

I think the NFL should try to slog through it. I remember 1982 and the strike shortened season and every team played with walk ons from the street, due to all the signed players refusing to play. One reason is simply to keep fighting and not let this virus win and defeat what little is left of normality. The other is simply to salvage a lost season with *some* kind of cash flow coming in. I see Restaurants and Barber Shops risking it to keep their businesses alive, and I think that's a good reason for the NFL to keep it's business model relevant and alive. Yes there are valid medical reasons *not* to have a season, but I think the risks are manageable and the virus will do what it will l do, NFL season or no NFL season. You will still have the spread of the virus to players and coaches whether or not the games are played. Might as well play the game.

Can't compare restaurants and barber shops to the NFL. Those businesses usually operate on a very slim margin by average people. NFL teams are owned by billionaires who won't miss a beat if there is no season. Most of the players should be okay too. They're still going to try and play. It's just a matter of whether they will be able to continue and put a decent product on the field.

Do you think they are going to try to add some type of plastic face guard to the helmets? Not sure if something like that was discussed yet.

The idea has been tossed around but what good would that do if they come to the bench and sit near each other without the helmets. I don't know how you keep 6 feet aprt when you have 45 guys and at least a dozen coaches on the field. They would stretch from the back of one end zone to the back of the other. Position groups always get together when they come off the field. Then you have the cramped locker roooms. Can't social distance ther so they may have to shower and dress in shifts. How will that work? Lot's of issues to overcome.

There is a huge difference between dealing with the inconvenience of working around a strike and dealing with stark the reality of a deadly and highly contagious virus. Seems like everyday there is another story about how the virus is showing up in MLB training camps and of more players opting out of the season, and that is a game that can only ever have a maximum 13 players on the field at a time, bases loaded and a batter at the plate, and where almost everyone but the batter and the catcher could stay at least a few feet apart. I honestly can't see anymore how the league, meaning the NFL, could expect the season to go on this year. I am fully expecting it to be called off.

Yeah I kind of agree. If they are not willing to open everything back up, no reason to open up sports.

I'm on the side of opening everything up and take our chances, but its not up to me.

Maybe they can just setup Madden games against each other.

Baseball starts Thursday so we will get a chance to see how things work out in a team sport with much less contact than football.
