And Austin going to IR

It's almost comical at this point how many WR injuries...was thinking Austin had a good shot to make the team.

Is it one of those hangnail injuries where they use that to stash a player on IR?

Just guessing, but ShanaLynch is trying to keep talented players on the roster by whatever means.

These wrs running on astro turf, that old philly veterans stadium s**t. It's f**king a given every week ones going down

I remember hearing about that Vets Stadium turf...guys would say getting tackled on it was like getting tackled on concrete. Hoping for good health going forward with the Niners' WRs - enough is enough!

Very confused about Austin...no one said anything about him being hurt last practice or this morning when Lynch was on the radio

I'm confused as well. It's a tough break as I've heard Austin was looking pretty good along with what he can bring on ST.

Just an hour ago Greg Papa on KNBR was raving - he went on and on - about how good White looks to him as he's watched him closely in practices. He said he not only looks the part but at times has looked like the best WR on the field and catches almost everything. It's just practices but this kind of positive feedback on White is obviously good to hear and curious if he can finally stay healthy and put it all together.

That's what I'm thinking too.. The news came after Richie James was officially back. Austin was brought in to have the same role as James while he was out. There just wasn't any room for him after that and didnt want to risk losing him to another team.
Sanu come on down!

Fast forward 2 weeks: Sanu placed on IR with acl tear

Trent not practicing. Why?

This.
Hope Taylor is o.k. I heard on KNBR that missing practice yesterday was just a scheduled day off/maintenance day. Being out again today is hopefully just the team now being extra cautious with all the WR injuries.

Man, Verrett can't even get through camp without getting hurt...

A lot of players didn't make it thru camp without an injury. This year seemed worse than others because there weren't any mini camps and training was lacking.

It is worse precisely for the reason you laid out. I feel for the guy, I really do. But I think he needs to retire. He has superior skills, but his body simply isn't in it for him, and I just don't wanna burn a roster spot on yet another guy who just cannot stay healthy.

It's always a "maintenance day" before it becomes an "aggravation" or "tweak".

Maintenance days are apparently pretty dangerous.
I haven't actually looked this up but I'm guessing that WRs as a group have one of the highest if not the highest percentages of injuries. Most of them are fast and some are track athletes which makes them prone to muscle tears and strains. Sprinters are always pulling muscles. The nature of the position requires quick cuts which puts a lot of stress on the knee and ankle. They're also wide open when they make a reception and can get hurt when they get hit in the air while their ribs are exposed. This all adds up to high priced, injured beef. You can never have enough of these guys stashed away some place.

So you're saying Taylor is out for the season? Taylor is fine and will play week one. But no it's always doom and gloom for all niner fans. The media already expects us to go 4-12 and I'm sure most fans do too because some players don't practice and a scrub receiver went on ir
and we thought our injury rate was bad last year
I think there stashing Austin on IR for a possible return later on in the season if needed.
