A pass rusher who's also ridiculously good against the run and can pretty much play any spot on the defensive line? He can play the edge on base downs.

The real key here though is that when we let him walk in FA, we are awarded a comp pick. The real downside is that we're sort of crowded already with talent on the D-line.

I meant who do we have to cut on DL for clowney..

I don't see the worth in signing him. but i won't be upset at it if we do

I wouldn't worry too much about Tony Oden (new db coach) he's been coaching in the league regularly since 2004. Same year Woods entered the league. Coaches don't stick that long if their not solid at what they do.

Didn't realize he's been coaching that long, seems like not that long ago he was playing in the league, man time flies, good info. Thanks

They may be just creating more space that can be rolled over to next season when we will need to sign more guys. Remember, the cap may actually go down next season.

Dee Ford has the team's 2nd highest cap number after Jimmy. I think Ford is a good, useful player and would love for him to be on the team, but at a lower cap number. This is also NOT a situation where we have so much cap space that we weren't going to use it anyways. There are a lot of good, young players who are going to want raises in the coming seasons. Ford's cap hit represents a major opportunity cost

This would be the best use of that extra cash imo. I hope this is what they're targeting.

Let's wait and see how this season goes, by all reports the surgery he had in the offseason has him looking like 2018 Ford and if he reaches his ceiling in snaps then to me he's worth every penny, big difference when he's playing, opens everything up for the Dline. If he has a similar year like last yr than I can see them reworking his contract

Timing is odd for Ford's new contract. Could the money be for Sanu? I also wouldn't mind a new center.

Money for Sanu? What "money" would it take? The entire league has passed on him at this point.
