No need to "stash" any new cap room if the intent is to ultimately use it to resign players anyways.

If you want to (and can) extend Williams and/or Juice... just do it now. No sense in waiting.
Omega Red to the practice squad!

Seems like a big mistake to tie ourselves to Dee Ford. His cap hit is just way too big to withstand for such an injury prone player who's not getting any younger.

I would be shocked if this was done for a Trent Williams extension. Seems like too much risk - surely there could be a way to get an extension done without needing to clear cap space for this season

I agree wholeheartedly on this. Ford has proven he can't stay healthy. When the time comes to dump him, it may be an ugly divorce for the team financially.

I hope he passes through the waivers. Juszczyk will cost 5+ million APY in 2021 in my estimation. If Hokit can make the PS squad and develop be on the 53 next year, thats a good chunk of change saved to help in signing Trent Williams next year.

I pretty much agree. Thats one less unknown next year. Signing Trent Williams now, frees up a first round pick from being used on a left tackle next year in my opinion.

However, is that freed up cap space for Tren, or for somebody else?

I wouldn't be so sure just yet. Everyone assumes he's Juice's replacement but that seems like major speculation. Woerner is probably more in line to play that H-Back role in the offense so I wonder what the plan for Hokit is. The guy is a pretty talented runner and pass catcher at FB but if he can't block on the line and in the backfield.

This website really needs to stop hyping 7th round draft picks until they do....anything...in the NFL.
I'm sure they are looking for Jennings to be on practice squad
