And kept Jimmie ward. Smh. This receiving core is the worse this team has seen since 2004. Arnez Battle and Cedric Wilson would start for this team.

I'm never comfortable with WRs. They get hurt a lot and can become a distraction at the drop of a hat. One minute they look like great teammates and the next they want a huge contract or more touches. I hope this group doesn't turn out like that but you never know with receivers. Pettis looked fine one year and turned into a flake the next.

George Kittle's name has no business being thrown around in a WR thread.

I liked Sanders a lot but I don't have any issues with the team not resigning him. To me Samuel and Sanders are pretty much the same kind of player. They make their living on those quick crossing routes over the middle. Sanders maybe has the edge when it comes to the deeper routes but Samuel is more physical after the catch and more effective on those runs out of the backfield. I think if everyone comes back healthy, Samuel, Hurd, and Taylor, then they are a pretty good unit that will be effective within the schemes that Shanahan draws up. Bourne stepped up last year and should have another solid season. Aiyuk is the wildcard. He certainly seems like he could help make up for the loss of Sanders but he is going to be really handicapped by the curtailment of all of the preseason activities. Honestly though, I am becoming more and more convinced that the season isn't going to happen so all of these discussions are probably moot, for this year at least.

I am if you include Kyle's version of Julio Jones in this offense is George Kittle.
1. George Kittle (1,300 yards)
2. Deebo Samuel (1K)
3. Aiyuk, Hurd, Taylor, Bourne
4. Pass catching Arby's
Don't forget Pettis. Jk
Pettis = Championship
I like how you think
LOL. I just assumed all already knew we could automatically expect 2K from Pettis.

I don't know - our receivers are known to drop a lot of passes. Kittle rarely drops balls.

I am in the wait and see group. No sense wasting valuable draft pick on a temp commodity that may not be any better than what we have. Plus, save the money for if we need It to pick up someone if need be later.
Bourne has improved every year. So I expect more from him if we have a season especially since he wants to get a long term contract. Aiyuk, although will take time, I expect by seasons end he will shine. Then there the injured players. Trent is proven-just has not stayed healthy. Hopefully Deebo does not end up like how Trent was last year. Then there is Hurd. the biggest question is Hurd. Hasn't played in any games and is making a comeback. His is a story of potential.
Then there is the enigma of Pettis. He could have a breakout year simply because it is contract year.
I say let our youngsters grow. No sense in a Sanders situation like last year.

I'm calm. George plays tight end.

Deebo
Brandon
Bourne
Hurd
Pettis
We have a solid group of young WRs. Deebo and DeeboJr are going to destroy defenses this year. Kendrick looks very hungry so I actually expect him to have a very good year. He's putting in the work

When you have a great receiving TE like Kittle, you can get away with Above Average/Average WR's. QB has to be the one to make them better.
Look what Tom Brady was able to do with his WR corp.

I'm not worried about our WR corps...don't let others who rate them low bother you. Deebo's hurt, but well on the road to recovery. Additions of Aiyuk, Hurd, Taylor and Jennings will make believers out of the skeptics. Toss in Bourne, Benjamin and Pettis. Another guy few are talking about is Shawn Poindexter. He's another "big" WR who can go get the ball. I understand Coach likes him. At any rate, there's plenty of talent and finally, size and speed in the WR corps. Jimmy will have plenty of good targets.

Is Benjamin worth a spot at this point in his career, or is he out next Jordan Matthews?
