Settin yourself up to be pissed

Agree, I'm kinda peeved by BeatHard on the 53 too. Again, I like BDN and I'd love to use that spot for a good WR or DLineman or TE.

Then again what if BeatHard has finally understood the offense? Also, the virus will get a vote on the season. He's a last ditch hope to salvage our season if BDN and Jimmy are somehow affected by the plague.

My Surprised Cut/Trade candidates:
Tevin Coleman (RB)
Tom Compton (RG)
Azeez Al-Shaair (LB)
Marcell Harris (S)
CJ Beathard (QB)

If Coleman is cut then Hasty definitely makes the 53..I'm cool with that !

If Shanahan wanted Coleman gone they would have released him before April when it would have cost nothing against the salary cap.

Cutting one starter and trading another would be dumb.

Agree, I was hoping Salvon Ahmed would be able to beat out one of the veterans, unfortunately he wasn't able to and now Salvon is (I think) with the Dolphins. Tevin Coleman was hurt last year, and I hope he stays healthier this year. Surprisingly, he's still fairly young for a RB. I'm hoping Hasty can beat out either Colman or Wilson and give us more youth at the RB squad. As long as Coleman is with the 49ers, I'm pulling for him.

Meh Hasty is only a year younger than Wilson.
I can see them delaying cuts till last minute and seeing who other teams are cutting, most notably interior olinemen who can play center.

Coleman has good vision and is a strong runner to be honest we were spoiled last year Mostert's ypc was very high all things considered, plus I believe what makes our rushing offense so dynamic is having multiple runners with different running styles thus making it hard for teams to key in on our running backs. Coleman also brings the catching dynamic along with good size for a rb. McKinnon coming back from injury also will make Coleman less indispensable as we dont know yet how he is going to hold up during the season. Those rooting for McHasty it will be Wilson cut before Coleman as there is a reason Shanahan brought Coleman in.
How is this roster better than last years?

Depends on whether Trent Taylor, Verrett, Reed, and Givens/Street can be meaningful contributors

Williams is an upgrade over Staley and I think Brunskill is an upgrade over Person. Dee Ford seems to be healthy now so that will really help.

Also our young players should continue to improve

Please cut Pettis please

Why? He's had a really good camp, and we're thin at WR with 4 WRs hurt on IR, he isn't going anywhere.

Edit: Plus Taylor and Bourne are UFAs after 2020, we won't be able to bring both back if they both have good years IMO, where Deebo, Aiyuk, Pettis are signed through 2021 at least, plus we need to budget money for Deebo, Bosa, Warner, McGlinchey, plus our 2021 FAs. And just because Pettis had 1 bad year doesn't mean he should be let go.
