Russ on this team would be undefeated. i hate the little b*****d but hes a winner even when he gets no help. Jimmy needs the perfect storm to look like a star

Not true at all. Jimmy was FIRST in the nfl on third and forth down passing last year. Without a practice squad Center and 3rd and 4th wrs playing his first and second options he not only WINS today but is more accurate throwing to his wrs he trusts and knows. He still missed throws to win the game but the same could be said all last year for Rogers and this year for Brady and Matt Ryan.

Agree, give Jimmy some healthy decent starting receivers vs 2nd string and 3rd string receivers, and he'll be fine. I hope. Again, first game of the year, wait till the 3rd game before I make any assumptions and conclusions about this year and this team.

he had tons of open receivers today that he missed and he took unnecessary sacks without just throwing the ball away. he never throws it away when he should

No, he is overrated. Plus, more importantly, Shanny would have never picked him. Remember one thing, no mobile QBs, he has a distinct prejudice against mobile QBs or a distinct preference on pocket passers depends on how you want to see it. He has said it openly and repeatedly. If you ask me what QB I would rather have over Jimmy G, it will have to be Mahomes. But, again Mahomes wasn't even on Shanny's radar in that draft year. Has he changed that perception towards mobile QBs now? That I don't know, but I think he might think twice this time around should he move on from Jimmy G in future.

I have to hope that he will change his mind. Getting owned by Mahomes in the Superbowl, and Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray in the division has to shake off his stubborn QB evaluation someday.

Personally I'll wait till THL and JD have at it in the philm room before I come to conclusions. Having said that, I agree, this was one of Jimmy's worst performances I've ever seen. I'm (for now) going to chalk it up to being rusty, new receivers - in a sense - Trent Taylor, Pettis, and James Richie. What I mean, is because they haven't played with Jimmy a lot in a real game recently, it takes a while to get that timing down in a real game.
Let's look on the positive side. Niners played as bad as they could play on both sides of the ball, they were without their top two wide receivers and top two centers and yet still had a chance to win the game at the end. I am going to chalk this game up to be rusty due to no pre-season, and the injuries. And the Cardinals always seem to be a thorn in the Niners side. They gave them all they could handle last season and that Niners team went to the SB. Niners next 4 opponents are the Jets,Giants, Eagles, and Dolphins.

But the one thing I hate about Football is you got to wait an entire week to get over the loss and listen to all the negative comments during that span.
If the QB stands in the pocket like a statue to take the eventual sacks, or hardly makes any accurate throws outside the numbers, maybe we should stop blaming the OL or the WRs on the offensive performance. Jimmy had 7 months to put it together, but it seemed he failed to recover from the 4th quarter of the SB.

Face guarding isn't a penalty in the NFL. This is a clean play. How about jimmy throws it to the back pylon for an easy td

Costly penalties, defense like that of pre-2019, a QB who is certainly not a franchise QB if he continues to play like that,
You guys realize the Cardinals had no preseason either right?

If we're being objective, about 2-3 players had a good game. It was a s**tshow from the FO personnel decisions to coaching to scheme to in-game (non) adjustments to QB to OL to receivers to the entire D to ST. It looked like a high school team out there and the officiating was just as bad.

And yet, like you said, we still had a chance to win.

This is a big reason I picked us to go 10-6 because the ball most likely wasn't going to bounce our way this year, COVID off season, NFCW got stronger, we've got a lot of changes in personnel on offense, offense is built on rhythm so it's going to take time, injury (OL) history, etc.

We'll be alright...competitive. This is still a top 5 talented roster so we should still be within striking distance at the end.

Will be interesting to see the film breakdown in here...I thought Jimmy left a ton of plays on the field. No we didn't have a bunch of stud WRs BUT there were guys open and he missed plenty of opportunities. His throwing mechanics still look like junk. footwork isn't good at all. Not sure if that changes at all at this point.

This is a timing offense and when the QB isn't accurate YAC goes out the window. 2-11 on 3rd downs and 0-2 on 4th down

They lost on all 3 phases of the game (including the refs) AND still should have won. SF is by far the more talented team and it took f**k ups top to bottom to lose this one. We will clean some stuff up, but we didn't deserve to win this game.
