The outcome of the game was determined by a few plays.
1. The blocked punt
2. The Niners failure to score from the 1 yard line
3. The defensive holding call when the Niners had the Cards stopped. They would have punted from the end zone and the Niners would have had it around mid field.
4. Later in that drive, the Niners get called for a late hit on Murray which was highly questionable. They were able to continue the drive and score the TD.
5. Murray's runs. It kills a defense when you have the play covered and guys like him keep making big plays. Jimmy is a better QB but he can't make those kind of plays.

Those late hits on a QB that runs so much need to be looked at by the league. He didn't slide feet first and the defender tried to miss him and really went over the top. It's really asking a lot from a defender who is bearing down on a runner to be able to avoid even touching him.

Nice rundown. I'd just add one more that Jimmy was very indecisive when his first read wasn't there. Can't tell if he didn't see open WRs or there aren't any open WRs. The film will tell us this.

THIS! I was saying this all game! Jimmy was not going through his progressions at all! Just staring down one receiver and if he wasn't there he would either force it or take the sack. One that stuck out to me early was after the big play to Mostert we ran the same option route but this time Mostert cut outside toward the flats and when they read it perfectly he looked like he had no idea where the 2nd read in his progression was!! So frustrating to watch. It reminded me of Kaep in Chip Kelly's offense when asked to drop back but at least if Kaep's first read wasn't there he had the ability to run.

He has certainly come accustomed to relying on Kyle to scheme that first read open. When it's not there or his eyes drop, bad things happen. I wonder if the Cards got a beat on blanket coverage the 1st 3 seconds to "take that read away" and then make JG beat you with #2 (i.e. play more tight man off the LOS. Challenge more at the LOS).

Very likely that they might have caught something or notice our tendency to get rid of the ball quick while not looking off the target. Good observation. I did notice a lot of instances where both safety's were playing like 10-13 yards off of the ball and still no attempt to stretch the field.

Our passing game was abysmal I don't expect Debo Samuel to get our offensive engine running single handily and Aiyuk is a ? unless we are able to shake some rust off I don't see us as legitimate Super Bowl contenders like last year

The Cards game plan was obviously to neutralize the pass rush by getting the ball out quick. This worked in two ways. Avoiding sacks, and tiring out our D when our offense decided to give the ball back quickly.

Our D lasts about 3 quarters, the same as last year. This can be game planned against, as we saw.
It really sucked to not have fans at the game. The pumped in crowd noise was a joke.

I thought it was really odd to have cheerleaders. Why? No fans and the players don't watch them. I noticed they had ushers or security in the aisles and I had to wonder why. No fans to control so what was the reason? The whole thing was just not right.

It definitely takes some use to getting too. Imo I don't think any nfl teams should be allowed to have fans until all of them are allowed to.

This game took a lot out of me. It was just bad on all fronts. I put this loss on Shanny, but there's blame to go around. The secondary got torched by an inaccurate passer. WR's couldn't get open against the leagues worse pass defense in 2019, in particular Pettis and Taylor. To be sure Shanny is the best play schemer in the league. There isn't a coach in the league who can scheme and design plays better than him, including Andy Reid. But whatever philosophy he has regarding WR's its failing, and failing bigtime. Why he's not featuring Bourne more is beyond me. He's been the team's most liable WR, yet Kyle isn't (or it doesn't seem he isn't) designing plays for him. He seems to remain a 3rd or 4th option. Bourne may not be a pro bowl speedster but he's been the most steady for us. So he should be used more.

But can someone tell me why Taylor started? Could he even get himself open? Ouside of speed I'm just at a loss as to what Shanny is trying to accomplish at the WR position. It seems that Shanny really want to be proven right on Pattis and Taylor, to the point of costing games. And what of Kyle's pet project Pettis? It was if he wasn't even on the field. I saw a play were it appeared the play was designed for him and he couldn't get open, forcing Jimmy to hold the ball for far too long.

Mostert had himself an excellent game. But there were stretches in the game where Jet was in and I just could not understand why. I know it was his first game back but McKinnon didn't give us much, and neither did Coleman. Like Pettis and Taylor it seems that McKinnon is another player-project that Shanny just cannot move on from. He has to be proven right on them.

And Jimmy G. He had a terrible game. There were more than a few bad throws and awful reads. On several plays he just didn't see guys who were wide open. I don't know if the defense was just fooling him or he just isn't refined at reading defenses. In any event he has to get better, but I feel that comments like "has to get better" is starting to wear thin.

This loss bothered me, on so many levels. Kyle HAS to get out of his ego about certain pet players. He also has to get better at coaching with a lead and stop getting too cute with his play calling. My confidence took a real shot in this game. Getting back to the SB? We're not winning more than 5 games playing like we played against Cards yesterday.

The pass rush feeds off the crowd energy. Not saying that was the issue yesterday but its going to be missed.
According to jerry rice there were players dancing who hadn't done anything? Did anyone see this?

Jerry is calling out the coaching staff for the poor conditioning of the players.
From jerry
"Something that really, really got me heated yesterday — and I'm not going to call any names or anything like that — during the break, they were playing music," Rice explained, "and we had certain guys dancing that hadn't done anything on the football field; that didn't have a reception or anything. That's not the standard of the San Francisco 49ers.

If you want to dance, you want to be a dancer or do whatever, you shouldn't be wearing that uniform. You've got to be productive. You've got to contribute to the team. And if you can't do that, go do something else. That really just pissed me off. The Niners are not about that."

love it
