We could use some vet leadership in the WR room. That's especially useful in the maturation of a rookie QB.

Let Sanu/Hurd/James/Mid-round Rookie duke it out for the 3rd and 4th spots. I'm good with that.

he will stick around. a vet presence like his will be good.

BA
Deebo
James
Hurd
Sanu
Benjamin

we might add another WR in the draft, which could mean either Benjamin or James are gone. Hurd is also gonna be on bubble and most likely his spot will be taken over by a player that gets cut from a different team.

Hurd....

that's a word that you and some other posters keep using. I don't think it means what you think it means.

BA one good wr
deebo decent rb playing wr but hurt too much
James another punt returner playing wr... decent
teacup
sanu— likely gets decent amount of snaps
Benjamin who?

we should be drafting/signing more receiver help

I agree, and I am positive one will come out of the draft- I also like the size of Jennings would be interesting to see if he can show in camp.

the guy we got from the cardinals could be a factor?

I agree and I would not count on Hurd at all, James too.

Definitely for Hurd. I wanna see what James can do. I wouldn't lock him in as number 3. But if we still had 4 preseason games, I'd use him extensively in the first three. See if he can cut it as a dependable receiver. If a rookie is close or equal to him, let him go. Same with Hurd. Hurd will at least have PS eligibility however.

Ah damn I got the two confused. That's why I said the 49ers signed him so many times before. JMatthews was the one the 49ers kept signing and releasing.

you were thinking about perish cox

Goodwin, Sanu, ... dang, we having a reunion or something??

instead of signing guys that he used to coach, I don't understand why we couldn't sign a guy who's hungry in ROSS, or even DeSean ..

DeSean is 35, and got a 1yr $4.5M deal, no way would I pay that for DeSean. As for Ross, he's yet to prove anything in the NFL, while Sanu signed a vet minimum salary benefit deal, meaning only $915K if he makes the roster.

I think Trent Sherfield makes the 53, he got $200K GTD, they must like him, I think Deebo & Aiyuk are the only locks, Hurd is a near lock, I doubt they give up on him unless he looks absolutely terrible in preseason, Sherfield makes it as a special teams ace(along with Tavon Wilson and maybe Nathan Gerry, as both are special team aces), leaving 2 spots, 1 draft pick, and maybe someone like Sanu, James, Jennings or Benjamin.

.. he didn't make it last year, why are we wasting time with him again??

.. can he really improve the team...

I'd rather pay just $915K than $4.5M on a 35yr old WR who hasn't done much in years. And Ross hasn't done jack in his first 4yrs, there's a reason he had his 5th yr option declined. I seriously can't take anything you say seriously, you're the guy who wanted to trade Breida & Pettis for AJ Green like Cincinnati would do that deal, then you wanted us to sign him as a FA last yr when he had been tagged, then you said we should trade 2 of Kittle, Warner, & Armstead for the #2 pick, and now you want to deal Deebo & Jimmy to TB, who doesn't have the cap room for I assume their 1st rd pick, but why would Jimmy agree to go there to sit for 2yrs behind Brady?
If Hurd is healthy, I think we have 4 locks at WR, Aiyuk+Samuel+Hurd+James. I think Sherfield will probably be the 5th, and then a battle between guys like Sanu+Jennings+draft pick(s) battling for the 6th spot. Since we can't really count on Hurd yet, I hope we draft a WR between round 3-5 so we get a decent one who we can bring along slowly. Hopefully this WR we draft can be our PR/KR immediately, while also battling for snaps with guys like James+Hurd. Like AB said earlier, I think Sherfield makes the 53 due to his good size guarantee that was given to him, along with the fact he can contribute on our ST.
Jennings is my sleeper for WR3 given Hurd's injury history. Sanu will remain on practice squad most days...dude couldn't get on the field last year, no way he gets on the field a year older

Depending on where they draft a WR will tell a lot, if they choose one on day 2, he's a lock, I'd even go as far as to say if he's a 4th rd pick, a guy who fell, he'll make it, anything in the 5th-7th rd range would need to earn a spot. I think it ends up being Aiyuk-Deebo-Hurd-Sherfield-Draftee-James/Benjamin, Sanu to the PS, I can see Hurd not making it if he's completely terrible.
Hope they draft a WR 3rd/4th round...don't feel comfortable beyond Aiyuk/Deebo/James

Me 2, I actually don't have much faith in James at all, especially as a returner, IMO James is on the bubble more so than a Hurd or Sherfield. Draft a kid in the 3rd round who can play Slot, and maybe return kicks/punts.
30 for 30 Sanu winning the ring would be great with us
