can you share the broadcast view gif of Jimmy going through his progressions?

Heavy plus one.

This is the decisiveness we didn't see enough of week 1. Trust the route combination versus the coverage and let it rip.
After JG has to direct Coleman and Sanu where to line up, 49ers line up empty. I think Jimmy, like many QBs, is at his quickest when the formation is spread out. It gives a clearer look for the QB and reduces chances for exotic blitzes. He did well vs ARI when in spread formation.
4 verticals vs Tampa2

The pipe defender in a Tampa2 (orange) always gains depth while facing the strongside of the passing formation. Jimmy takes the snap and first looks to his left, moving the pipe defender away from where Jimmy wants to go.

Throw on rhythm (Coleman just about to enter break) with excellent ball placement. In front of the safety, low, away from the pipe defender, and beyond the red Hook defender.

Yup, 4 verticals is a horizontal stretch on the safeties. That's Sanu running up the right sideline. A throw to Sanu looked like it could have had a chance. I don't know who that safety is and whether he can cover ground.

Looks like Gregg Williams did his homework on the lack of targets outside and esp. deep...just peel off after 10 yards and help inside where Garoppolo lives.

Yet G-Rop still carved them up. That throw to Bourne seemed to soften them up a bit. While we didn't hit it, seeing how close we were made them a little less aggressive on those.

dude this is something we need more of. teams are going to clamp down all season like how the Chiefs did in the SB and how Arizona did last week if we dont.

bet you any money Bourne holds onto that 8 times out of 10

The offense really needs some reliable outside threats. The passing game seemed to be at its best when Goodwin was killin it.

Have you noticed changes in coverages thus far between this year and last with Woods moving on? I know some of us have had this conversation based on anecdotes but now that there's film on two games, what's your take?

Versus ARI they were nearly exclusively playing with two deep safeties when playing zone and one deep safety when playing man (Cover1). But ARI is an outlier because of how often they like to throw those WR screens. Playing with split safeties helps get numbers to each side of the field.

Only two weeks in, scheme-wise, the 49ers have definitely not reverted to their 2017/18 form of playing so much Cover3. They are mixing it up and when the opponent goes spread formation, the 49ers are playing split safeties. This was true versus NYJ.

So, thus far, they have not been a Cover3 dominant team. Not keeping a count, but I do notice more man coverage on 3rd downs compared to past seasons. They wanted to challenge these subpar NYJ receivers so I get the thought process here.

They are switching where the CBs line up based on which hash mark the ball is placed. They didn't do that last season except for one quarter in the NFCCG vs GB.
Can someone post the deep ball JG threw that was dropped by Bourne? I missed the play last Sunday and can't find a video of it.

I thought this was nice play design, and highlights what they could do as they wait for Deebo to come back and Aiyuk to get acclimated to NFL speed - play 1 WR while putting TEs and RBs on the field.

22 (2rb/2te/1wr) personnel but spread formation. Most three level high-low concepts are along the sideline. This one is over the middle of the field and puts 3 playmakers into the read. Imagine this play but with Kittle, Reed, and Mostert/Jet.
Three level high-low vs Cover3
Red occupies the deep safety, orange and yellow vertically stretch the Hook defenders.

Jimmy takes the snap and looks to his right. This is the high read to Reed. Dwelley is just running off the deep blue safety.

When the two orange Hook defenders gain depth to cover Reed, it opens up Mostert out of the backfield.

Not shown in gif or during telecast is Jimmy changing the play/alignment. Reed originally lined up outside of Bourne. When it revealed man coverage, Jimmy motioned Reed into the slot to give Bourne more room to work along the sideline. Bourne with the stutter go. Not much separation, but the pass was perfect.

Thank you! That was an absolutely perfect pass, Bourne's gotta come down with that. Thanks for the breakdown of the pre snap stuff also
