Aiyuk catches that in stride for 6. One day.

Nothing fancy here, just showing the trust Jimmy has with Bourne. He knows it's man coverage and when the CB turns his back to Jimmy, he knows he has Bourne on the Curl if he throws with timing. McGlinchy got worked on this play so it's a good thing Jimmy was decisive with where to go with the ball because there was no time to do much else.

Shouldn't that pass be more to the sideline over the shoulder so the db has less of a chance to play the ball and the WR can shield him better?

Last one on the run defense. NYJ ran a lot of inside zone in this game. Here they call outside zone. When Street (95) and DJJ slant weak, it stalls the Center and Left Tackle causing a domino effect that blows up the execution of the play. Kwon scrapes over and is unblocked to make the tackle. The DL was causing confusion all game long and it's nice to see Saleh use scheme so frequently to bolster the run defense instead of just playing straight up.
3Q 1st & 10

+1. This is the set of downs that ended when AA batted down the pass

I'll wrap up the game with this play since I thought it was the nail in the coffin for the Jets. If you have a play you want to see, let me know.
3Q 49ers leading 24-3. 3 minutes left. With how ineffective the Jets had been on offense, they needed a touchdown here to get back in the game.
3rd & 7
49ers in a red zone Cover2.
Jets have sort of a double post or Mills looking concept to the left + a Fade/Out to the right (jd calls this concept 'Ohio')

Darnold takes the snap and first looks to his left. He sees Ward in a good position to defend the two in-breaking routes.

Darnold looks to his right and sees Tartt in good position to take away the quick Out from the slot WR. Moseley defends the fade.

When Darnold rolls right to extend the play after his first two reads are taken away, Ward does a good job of walling off the crosser (purple) then matching it. Kwon plasters to his guy.

Incomplete. 49ers with excellent coverage all around. The Jets chose to kick a field goal and that's a game over decision.
Thought Kwon had a MUCH better game this past week. Again, kay be because of the hapless Jets.

This is on NYJ opening drive of 2nd half. As Ward follows the motion WR, Spoon and Ward have worked out who is going under/over, to avoid the pick. Ward's first step is backwards, he will play over the pick. This helps Spoon defend a possible Slant and allows Ward to drive downhill and attack the quick out route NYJ was hitting in the first half. Good adjustment.

Have you noticed changes in coverages thus far between this year and last with Woods moving on? I know some of us have had this conversation based on anecdotes but now that there's film on two games, what's your take?

Small sample size, but we're still a primarily zone team. This looks like dedense as usual compared to last year. The difference this year is that we just haven't had the production in pass rushing downs. Bosa going down really, really hampers that. 😭

Can someone post the deep ball JG threw that was dropped by Bourne? I missed the play last Sunday and can't find a video of it.

this doesn't make any sense. Jimmy can't throw the deep ball.

True, I guess an ideal pass would've been a high arcing throw that drops over Bourne's shoulders and hits him in stride but considering there was a free rusher straight in Jimmy's face he didn't have time to load up and drop a bomb like that. Instead he had to throw it a little more on a line but it still ended up going exactly where it needed to be to be a successful completion. Pretty damn impressive either way.

Anyone cut up the 1st and 20 with 12:57 left in the 3rd quarter play? Photobucket is being b***h so I can't post the still but with a half a second more Aiyuk probably scores a 78 yard TD because he is absolutely dropped in coverage but the line doesn't hold up and Nick is sacked.

It is here y'all. Would've been here sooner if the stinkin' ENT didn't take 2 hours.....Seriously, in one waiting room for an hour, then another one for 40 minutes....ughhh. All good though, enjoy!
sorry for the gaff in the link.....I still had the paypal link a few folks had asked me to include last year in my videos from pasting it in the description, lol.
Outstanding!
To your point I texted a buddy of mine in NY letting him know we just blew out his NYG with our JV team. I also may have suggested that the two NY teams should be forced to play each other every week so the rest of us wouldn't have to be subjected to that horror.
