I'm still curious about how Jimmy ripped off all those wins when he first got here. He obviously didn't have the offense down at that point, and out roster was not strong. Was it perhaps a result of just playing instinctually? Or were those teams overlooking us and simply not playing hard? Would be great to see that Jimmy again...

We did for the first half. Only 1 bad pass on the one slightly behind Reed in the red zone. Last week was a down game but hes got a great record for a reason.

If our offense is top 5 and our defense is the middle of the pack, then yes.

It will be a tall order because we play in the toughest division in football and the injuries.
Having said that, the NFC is wide open, I don't see a team that is far and away better than SF at full strength.

Umm he had belichek as a coach then went to Shanahan who ruined him. he's been progressively worse every year.
Once he started thinking and not just playing everything went downhill.
We are a 10-6 with Jimmy 11 or 12 win team with mullens

Well this season is going to be all about who doesn't get injured the rest of the season. If the coaching staff doesn't see a problem with the injuries that have piled up over the past several seasons then they should be reevaluated

we don't make it to the playoffs last year without jimmy, how do people get the idea that Mullens is better? If he was better Shanahan would have him be the starter.

Definitely a big YES for me. A tight knit locker room facing adversity this early in the season will only pull this team together for a successful long run. Bosa is the only talent the Niners can't replaced. The rest of the team including reinforcements on PUP should be getting healthier at the right time for that playoff push in the second half of the season.

That's nothing new. I've seen it in the NFL many times over the years. A backup comes in and tears it up for a few weeks until the league gets a good look at him and starts game planning around him. Every QB has tendencies, strengths and weaknesses. Once the DCs spot them they can exploit them. Last week Herbert started a game on 5 minute notice for the Chargers and threw for over 300 yards and ran well. Once the league sees the film and how the Chargers use him,I expect those yards and TDs will be harder to come by.

What are these reinforcements that you speak of? There are no reinforcements. We don't know what kind of Deebo we're going to get. Nothing in the RB department is coming. Secondary still sucks and lacks depth. D-Line has no reinforcements coming. Blair will be a huge TBD.

I'd like to see how well we come out of the game tomorrow. Any more injuries and it's a sure "no".

This is where we will find out how good our front office and coaching is. The injuries to key players hurts so much but this is where we will find out how good our depth is and how good or bad John's drafting and free agency hires have been. Not to mention how good our coaching really is.
I still think we need to do something about our training staff as we have had so many issues with soft tissue injuries the past 3 years. I'm not talking about ACL tears. That is just bad luck.
If our office and coaching is up to snuff we should be in the playoff race.

I don't know how you can coach differently so players don't get injuries other than having no contact at all in practice. That doesn't help for the games though. Players do stretching exercises but there's only so much you can do. You can build muscle strength but you can't work out and make your bones stronger or your ligaments stronger. Unfortunately all the bulk that layers carry now can easily lead to more injuries like the one where the player fell on Bosa and bent his knee.
