Come on down Clay Matthews.

Hes not going to want to sign here. Hes safe on his couch. I joked that Ansah would avoid signing here because of the injury curse, and it turns out that's exactly what happened.

We will see about that. At the end of the day, money talks, BS walks.

lol Ansah "likely headed for IR". Its comical at this point.

The San Francisco Injured Reserves.

It's becoming unfu%king believable. I know every team every year has injuries…this is probably the worst I've ever seen for the Niners through 4 games in my 43 years watching this team.

Every team doesn't have all pro injuries or just solid players injured or all at the same position. Look at the rams for instance.....nothing. Seattle, Adams for a game or two and maybe another solid starter or two. Cards....baker and an average cb???

The quality and importance of the Niners starters is astonishing. Qb cbs des 3 of the most important and crucial positions.

Would love it if they signed Matthews. I doubt they will though.
Sign Matthews so he can f up the rams
I wish just once one of these vet pickups would work out for us like they do for other teams

I think Matthew is washed up - hope we leave that alone.

What? Why? He had 8 sacks last yr in a part-time roll. He actually plays unlike Ziggy. If anything they should have left broken down Ziggy alone

Dude looked slow as dirt out there, hopefully most of his gtd cash was tied into playing time.

is it though signing a guy who's been injured for a good portion of his career, get's hurt lol?

hated the signing
Yea the guy has been a walking injury his whole career. It's just like we all knew Jordan Reed would get injured

Um, Emannuel Sanders???

Jason Verrett just might work out provided he can stay healthy. That's admittedly a big if.

Ziggy Ansah didn't work out for Seattle last year, which would be one of the "other teams" that we actually obsess over.

It's just really weird and unfortunate. It's like I told someone in the game thread who blamed Shanahan and Lynch for somehow not magically knowing that Ansah would get hurt and everyone else did which is why he was sitting at home. We could bring in Myles Garrett and Khalil Mack- won't obviously, but hypothetically could and they would have season ending injuries within a week or two at this rate.

Reed actually looks like a football player though. He produced. Ziggy looks out of shape and slow, SF basically lost both edge rushers and somehow expected to get production out of this old turd

Whatever we got from Reed IMO is just gravy.

Sure I wasn't a fan either. I mean with what happened they almost had to do something. You could argue Matthews instead as you are and that's fine. But maybe Matthews tears an ACL or something then where are we. Back to square one again.

Again, I didn't necessarily like Ansah. Not because of any injury history which I never paid much attention to. But because he was a nothing in Seattle last year.

But it's something in the training or in the water or in the fire affected sky in San Francisco with these injuries. This year in particular with no preseason and not much training camp everything would be more risky even though it's up to these guys to stay in shape regardless. But we lose guys for some time like Deebo and Richie doing nothing in particular that's all that strenuous and they still injure themselves and miss time. It's just the bad, weird San Francisco way here lately. Be part of a great team, great culture, do great things. That is if you can avoid being one of the walking wounded.

imo people lose credibility when they can't look at this stuff objectively. There is a reason Ziggy Ansah was available in week 3 in free agency. He sucks and he's injury prone. There is a reason Jordan Reed signed with us for the league minimum. He is injury prone as hell.

Yes, we've had some unfortunate injuries. But this board needs to stop with this victim complex of acting like injury-prone getting players injured is "bad luck". That's not bad luck, it should be expected.

Maybe... but I disagree with it being a victim complex or with it just being bad luck because we got guys who are injury prone. That's not the root cause of the reaction. The root cause of the reaction is all of the injuries to the team period. This year and almost the entirety of Shanahan and Lynch's time here. Last year we were actually somewhat fortunate of course. Jimmy stayed healthy, the backs stayed healthy except nicks and bruises. Receivers stayed healthy, Kittle out for a couple of games. Blair tore his ACL and Dee was in and out with the knee. But this year is like two years ago and obviously even worse with the sheer number of injuries and key ones at that. But I remember the Raiders game that night with Nick's debut when it wasn't just his coming out but also Raheem's coming out as maybe he's something as a running back. Has a nice long touchdown run and then later completely breaks his arm that same night. I remember twitter jokes, even though I don't tweet about how the 49ers can't catch a break this year.

I think people are just shell shocked by it all at this point and that's where it all comes from. Regardless of Ansah and Reed's durability and injury history.
