They put a lot of work into reestablishing their medical and strength and conditioning teams last year. It's like they thought these guys would be miracle workers. Everyone they have brought in with an injury past has ended up injured. Sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade.Originally posted by NYniner85:Yeah he actually tackled some dudes for a change
He's still not even close to worth his contract. Not even close.
Yeah it's a pretty bad philosophy IMO. Sign guys with injuries or a injured past, don't be shocked if they get injured again. AND for the love of god don't count on them to be major contributors at the very least.

Maybe... but I disagree with it being a victim complex or with it just being bad luck because we got guys who are injury prone. That's not the root cause of the reaction. The root cause of the reaction is all of the injuries to the team period. This year and almost the entirety of Shanahan and Lynch's time here. Last year we were actually somewhat fortunate of course. Jimmy stayed healthy, the backs stayed healthy except nicks and bruises. Receivers stayed healthy, Kittle out for a couple of games. Blair tore his ACL and Dee was in and out with the knee. But this year is like two years ago and obviously even worse with the sheer number of injuries and key ones at that. But I remember the Raiders game that night with Nick's debut when it wasn't just his coming out but also Raheem's coming out as maybe he's something as a running back. Has a nice long touchdown run and then later completely breaks his arm that same night. I remember twitter jokes, even though I don't tweet about how the 49ers can't catch a break this year.
I think people are just shell shocked by it all at this point and that's where it all comes from. Regardless of Ansah and Reed's durability and injury history.
I get the shell shock for sure... but how about we stop bringing in every injury prone player (who's actually talented) but never healthy...If it's depth guys that's fine. DO NOT count on them to be major contributors though.
For the love of god let's stop spending top end money on guys that have a history of injures or are coming off injuries. Richburg, Kwon, Ford etc. The only good thing with doing that is you can get them a little cheaper AND have some flexibility with those contracts...they completely got rid of that option when the restructured all three dudes
I'd say that's part that's a reason why we've been snake bitten with these injuries. No one truly knows why we're constantly injured ,if they did they'd be making a lot of cash lol, BUT constantly bringing in dudes with a history of health issues is probably a factor IMO.
That's fair.

Guy was probably playing on a minimum deal so there is no economic downfall but he leaves us another man short though.

Trade?
Running out of options here.
Hell, give me anybody that can generate a pass rush. Right now, we have nobody that can get consistent pressure from the edge.
Way too much of an overreaction.
They have three total sacks in the night and Armstead alone had seven or eight pressures
The defensive line is fine overall they just need more durable and reliable depth
I am curious as to who they will bring in next or will they elevate from the practice squad

I thought I read it was for a $3m deal just for the remainder of the season. When Bosa went down, Ansah could pretty much ask for what he wanted.

Agreed, the DL has been playing good, not great, but good. You know what will help this DL? The offense staying on the field and sustaining drives.

Only dude that is a edge rusher (I guess) on the practice squad is Alex Barrett...they've cut and resigned him like 5 times this off season
Ford is out at least 3 weeks, Bosa IR, Blair can't start practicing for like 2 more weeks (if he's even good to go) they have to sign someone. Clay Matthews would make sense. We're lacking some speed on the edge.

I don't think they're going to go after Clay Matthews or Suggs because they don't fit the system and they are just too long in the tooth at this point
Keep in mind what you sacrifice 4 speed around the edge you give up in potential run defense with only four down linemen.
Is the reason why Chris kosarek likes big are defensive lineman and I personally think they are one of those strengths of the team if not the primary strengths
So I don't think it's that big of a deal they just need someone to fill in Ziggy spot since he's gone for the year.

Agreed
And to be honest with you I think the defensive line is playing closer to great been good
Keep in mind stopping the run last year was a huge issue.
With Buckner gone and Kinlaw and his place we're basically only concerned about the quarterbacks running LOL
Remember whatever you sacrifice for the sake of speed you give up in run defense.
And being able to defend the Run takes priority over defending the pass

I heard this on KNBR today too. He got paid $3m for 6 part time quarters of work. Do we have to eat that full amount ?

I think Matthew is washed up - hope we leave that alone.
What? Why? He had 8 sacks last yr in a part-time roll. He actually plays unlike Ziggy. If anything they should have left broken down Ziggy alone
Dude looked slow as dirt out there, hopefully most of his gtd cash was tied into playing time.
This. He had 8 sacks and didn't even play in what 7-8 games in a very limited role? That was sick and if he played the whole year he would of had more sacks than AA or Bosa

Even if healthy, Ansah wouldn't have made much of a difference to the pass rush. It's a wash.
