One thing is absolutely beyond debate. The NY football teams suck. I thought the Jets were bad but this Giants team without Barkley has no offense at all. Our defensive backups did a great job but they weren't exactly facing an offensive juggernaut.

Saleh used more blitzes today than he usually does and it certainly helped.
I liked the quickness of Hasty.
Kinlaw continued to show some ability.
Aiyuk looks like he's going to be okay.
Mullens looked like Mullens except I think his arm actually looked a little stronger. He had some zip on a couple of the deeper throws over the middle.
I guess the turf was okay today. Amazing.

All good points. Don't forget we still can cover a QB who wants to run.

here we go. We don't make the playoffs without Jimmy G last year. He was playing good last week on a bum ankle. Mullens had himself a good game today. Does not mean he is better than Jimmy the coaches know this.

You replace Jimmy with Mullens last year and I would argue that the 9ers still make the playoffs.

Mullens looked good today against one of the worst teams in the league. I'm more curious how he would do against the Eagles and Rams if Jimmy can't go next week. Jimmy plays up to the level of his competition. Mullens showed that he had a ceiling against better teams when he had to step in for Jimmy G. He turned the ball over like crazy. There were a few passes that could've gone for pick sixes today. Against a better team like the Rams or Seadderall, much higher risk that he gets picked or strip sacked. He looked good today. But let's not get too excited yet until Mullens actually gets tested.

Lets remind everyone and bring them down to earth that Mullens was playing again the 0-2 Giants. Mullens play better than I expected but it was still against a scrub team.
Early report that McKinnion has a rib injury

That's Tuesday language.

You smart guys on here really entertaining the idiots on here claiming Mullens is better and should be the starter?

I don't think Mullens is better but the drop off isn't much. I think this really shows how much of the offense is Kyle and not Jimmy or Nick. I really think any QB that is smart and reads defenses pretty good can run this offense. That's why I put jimmy in a group of about 12 or 15 QBs that are good enough to win but not really elite. I'll probably get heat for that comment but that's what I see.

I don't think this can be understated. The Giants are a bad football team. What amounts to the Niners' second string defense and quite possibly offense dominated the Giants.

We can draw one of two things from this. The Giants are absolutely horrendous, or the Niners' depth is bar none best in the league. However, in either case I think it is a testament to the coaching staff and the folks they are drafting/signing. There are not many teams in the league that can sustain this kind of attrition and still dominate even weaker teams.

Let's also not forget that Mullens was playing with 4 major starters on offense too

This place will be insufferable this week.

that's what i hate about this place. Mullens played well. Jimmy shredded the Jets. Mullens basically shredded the Giants. both teams are trash. obviously the job isn't going anywhere from Jimmy, but can't we just appreciate the great game Mullens had without bringing up stupid comparisons hypotheticals after 1 game.

id like to just enjoy a huge win with 40% of our starters out
I hate when people call players "back ups" just because they've been a back up. Implying that they've already reached a known limit. Let me remind you that at one time Tom Brady was a "back up."

Obviously I'm not saying Nick is remotely close to a Brady. For all we know Mullens might end up playing more like Greg Brady than Tom.

Well, the idea is that a smart QB with upside talent will be at least 12-15 but over time grow into a Top 5 guy. And by time, I mean over the course of starting within the system for multiple seasons, say, 50+ starts. So Jimmy is really only a 3rd of the way there to see if he can grow to that point. Which takes patience through rough patches (ARZ game) and other setbacks (ankle injury).

Fans see one bad game and want to move on to the next guy. That's not a recipe for long-term sustained success.
Very nice game by a team that had A LOT of injuries.

Win is a win is a win.
