I am not sure if tanking is the right word to use. But with Bosa out for the season, and Dee Ford being on a bum knee and injury prone, we're basically back to where we were in the 2018 season. Although at least in this case, Jimmy G is not completely out for the season. They will probably win a couple more games than 2018, but I am thinking we will finish top 10 in the draft.

You cannot. Those are the very things that drive the game. It is too brutal to play if you are not in it emotionally.

And I'm saying that tanking isn't actually a thing unless you're already a really terrible team like the Colts when Peyton Manning went down and it exposed that the entire roster was garbage.
This is a talented roster that is getting a bunch of players back in the next few weeks. Tanking isn't even an option. There will continue to be ups and downs and realistically this is probably a 7-9/8-8 team at this point but they are still way too talented and Shanahan and Co have put way too much effort into building a winning culture to go all Madden. Its not happening. They'll continue to play to win and let the draft picks fall where they may.

Wow, your salty. I bet you 1000 bucks you have referred to the San Francisco 49ers as "we" in your life. Cheer up man.. You must not love the 49ers if you cant refer to them as "we" Would it make you feel better if I told you I was the landscaper at 4949 centennial boulevard Santa Clara, CA 95054 Anyway, WE lost tonight. WE need to draft CB early.

This team didn't tank when we were a talent poor roster with no hope of winning a game let alone playoffs. Cost us Garrett, could have cost us Bosa.
We're not going to start tanking now.
And if we did it would undermine just about everything we've spent the last 4 years building to the point where a top draft pick wouldn't take us to the level people think it will.
Tanking would be pointless.

If we go 2 - 3 and fall under .500 I think this team could tank fast. The injuries all over the field are out of control. I don't know if they can hold together this season. It looks like the Super Bowl slump.

Exactly !!Thing is the only people who could 'Tank it per se is the Coach/GM" You seriously think John Lynch is telling Shanny :"Hey play X,Y,Z Player so we can Lose and get a higher Draft pick. And Shanny responding "Ok I will so then i could Lose my job too"

Yes. We're in no man's land right now. Skating up hill through snow.. too many injuries, talent lacking in several key areas.

It will probably be better if they just cancel the season. The whole thing has been a s**t show. I'd rather avoid going through anymore injuries that might linger into next year for a season that might not make it til the end.

Interesting question indeed... it's almost as if in rooting for a team for which the majority is based in the area one grew up in... that person begins to affiliate for that team. Therefore the emotion they put forth for that team is the same as if they weres upporting that team. The team also feels this as reflects that emotion saying this one if for our fans etc. and everyone feels a sense of community.
But hey there are always those types that for whatever weird f*ckin reason include cities or regions into their tag names with no interest in being affiliated with them. Or the other types that want to switch whichever pronoun they use based on if the team is winning or not. Who knows?

And all for a prospect that comes with absolutely zero guarantees.
