How many people feel there is no excuse for that debacle?

Excuses? No - explanations - sure. Both OL , DL, and secondary are decimated, and the OL is seriously underperforming with no sense of being a cohesive unit. Good to see Raheem Mostert back in action. My biggest frustration was that even though Allen was completely overmatched like a fish out of water (understandably starting due to all of the injuries in the secondary) - once you saw he was STRUGGGGUHLEEEENG (credit to another poster for that concept in the game thread), why wouldn't you give some safety help, blitz, or disguise a coverage. Any adjustments made - trying Spoon weren't until SF was in a huge hole. Would it have made a difference? Not really - the end deficit might have been less.

Not sure JG was ready to play - and with the OL issues - that was a powder keg waiting to go off.

The schedule is not kind the next eight - trying to be optimistic, but I'd be pleasantly surprised with a couple of wins in that span.

The Dolphins are not the worst team in the league, but they thoroughly controlled that game yesterday - SF is a shell of what they were last year, but seemingly half the team is on IR - just one of those seasons......maybe they find something to help for next year.

I agree - we're a walking mash unit right now. With one of the toughest schedules ahead, it's going to be difficult to get wins. If we can get some help from the draft - out of this season, it would make things a little more bearable.

I hate the word excuses, because it make it sounds made up. There are definitely reasons for where we are right now. One is temporary but I fear one is permanent. The first is obviously a record breaking number of injuries that have removed entire position groups, that will eventually get better. But what might not is Jimmy losing his nerve to take hits in order to make throws. If that is permanent....he has to go or we never get back to being a contender

Yep, a lot of blames to go around but this loss was definitely more on KS and the coaching staff.

Sht happens. Young and the Niners got killed by the Eagles at home in '94. Steve got benched. Went to Detroit the following week and was down 14-0.

The idea is to regroup and stop the bleeding.

49ers were also down a lot of lineman that eagles game, hence that blowout. But 49ers also came back and won the Superbowl that year. That ain't happening this season.

I'm so sick of hearing about that Eagles game. I swear you'd think that was the only game the Niners ever lost.
Excuses in here are great. Ohhhhh the injuries!!!

We aren't the only team to be battling injuries. That Fins team has been decimated by injuries too.

Their starting O-Line was more of a mash unit where ours was intact. They did fine.

Their D-Line is mainly made up of rookies or sophomores and castoffs. Yet they were able to attack.

They were missing two of their stud/top WR's....

Look at the Eagles game too. How many starters were they down.

Injuries are apart of this business. How you overcome this is by drafting good depth. One thing this new regime has yet to do.
A few posters in here have it right. We 100% overachieved last year and capitalized on it as well as taking advantage of other teams injuries.
The reality is it was going to take at least 3-4 years of drafting to rebuild this team.

The fact that this team is tight on cap and constantly picking up fodder to plug and play is a recipe for disaster.

Be prepared for a rough offseason fellas. A lot of hard questions will he asked;

How much do we really want to Pay Sherman?
Dee Ford? (Probably he retires)
Jimmy G? (Contract opt out)
Spoon, E-Man are FA's too.

Draft Picks: 7 total with no 3rd and 2 5th rounders.

Bye to Sherm.Time to rebuild the backend of the defense,

I hope he retires so we can get out from his contract and shift resources to CB and OL.

No way we move on from JG yet although it would be good to have a solid back up to push him. QBs do not grow on trees. Too early to give up on him .

Spoon is garbage. I would resign Mosley for depth and Williams is very solid.
We need two starter quality young CBs either through the draft and or FA.

I see this posted every time the Niners are having a bad season as a sign of hope. And yet despite this rally cry, I watch the Niners pick in the top 5 in the draft. Get real. This team is awful.

They will likely prove to be a better team than many think. They hung in against Seattle last week until a pick in the 4th quarter resulted in an easy Seahawk TD. Until then it was a 2 point game.

We know what happened with the defense. Miami saw that practice squad player at CB and ate him alive. That doesn't excuse the offense. Before the game they were saying this is the closest they have been to having their starting offensive unit this year. No excuses.
We're not good. Front office blew it. Lost Emmanuel Sanders, screwed the passing game. Lost Buckner, the anchor of defensive line. Lost Staley, heart of the offensive line. In fairness, they tried to replace him with Trent, but that's not working out.
