Who was the best QB the 49ers had in the last decade

The nostalgia for Kap is mind boggling. Jimmy is by far the superior *quarterback* in every aspect of what goes into the position.

Footwork, mechanics, accuracy, reading progressions, throwing a catchable ball. Kap was a raw athlete posing as a QB. Jimmy may not be the long term solution for us moving forward, but I'll go with the guy who passed for essentially 4,000 yards and 27 TDs with a bunch of conservative 4th quarters in blowouts... over the guy who struggled to throw for 200 yards per game.

Sadly it's between Jimmy, Kaep, and Alex and they all failed when it truly mattered.
Probably kap overall for a short time?

Kap was better than Jimmy, so I'm going with Kap.

Kap a had year and a half run where he looked real good. Then he sucked.

So going by best year Kap. Overall, Smith.

Both arent saying much.

I thought he was really really good in the 2nd half of 2012. I didn't like his 2013 play that much. I started to see his weaknesses. 2014 and beyond was a disaster. I think he caught lighting in a bottle in 2012.

Kap at his peak and it's starting to look like Kap overall was our best.

Kap dealt with worse teams and coaching than Jimmy has. The franchise as a whole was also a mess.

I know Kap hit rock bottom in 2015, but I'd still take him over Jimmy. I feel like Jimmy would be a lead foot TO machine disaster on the 2016 team.

Kap protected the ball better and was better with his legs.

I also think scheme worked against Kap where as it helps Jimmy. When did Harbaugh ever scheme players wide open deep for Kap like Kyle does for Jimmy?

I also think we rarely used Kap correctly. He averaged around 30 yds a game rushing in the reg season. In the playoffs he averaged around 90 yds a game rushing. He went for 99+ yds rushing in half of his playoff games.

Kap while being used correctly is better than Jimmy imo.
What a low bar. JG, Alex and Kaep all had some good points but also had enough bad points to keep them from becoming great.
I know Kap couldn't dance around like Wilson or Jackson, but he could eat up positive yards better than any QB I've seen

Once he turned the corner and got those long legs going he was hard to catch. He just didn't have good pocket awareness and often turned right into the rush.
Alex Smith gets my vote. Tough son of a b***h. Broken leg that was life threatening, broken collarbone. Kaep always sucked as a pocket passer he was a change of pace. That's what Harbaugh did wrong by completely abandoning a pretty effective two quarterback set that kept opposing defenses off balance. Jimmy is done though. Need to to move to greener pastures with Zach Wilson
I would go Kap, Alex, Jimm G in that order
I have to wonder how good Alex would have been if he had Harbaugh or Shanny as his coach when he was drafted instead of a different bad coach every year. Different system. poor O line and no weapons for his first 5 seasons. By the time they started getting better personnel and coaching he was already damaged goods. He could have been the best with the right circumstances.
