Keep the politics out of the thread. For reals.

This thread should probably be closed lol or moved to the NFL covid thread. You literally can't discuss it without bringing them up.

Sure you can.

This is b******t that SC county has this harsh a restriction on professional sports. I get the restriction for youth sports but these are professionals with top of the line testing. There are no fans in the stands so the risk of spread is the same as it has been in previous weeks.

This is another jab in the battle between the county and the 49ers. SC county has been one of the better counties when it comes to rate of infection so to see it impose one of the harshest restrictions seems unnecessary when you consider these are professional athletes who understand the risks.

They're also screwing the sharks, Stanford, and San Jose State. It's not like the 49ers are the only program that gets hit by this. The county is making a blanket ruling. No exceptions. I don't agree with it, but I get it.

Agreed.
Would be kinda fun and nostalgic to see them play at Kezar Stadium again. Although I think it would not fit the cutout fans in today?
Just cancel the season...it shouldn't have started in the first place..there's a damn pandemic going one..WHO DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING

anyone completely sick of these restrictions and feel they're completely unjustified at this point? I have to believe there are other fellow niner fans who feel this way. I know we live in a more liberal area where expressing this opinion is more problematic. But man, watching these college games in the south with fans, how does one not wonder just wtf is going on? Yea, I see public health officials scare mongering about CASES! but you'd have to rely solely on these pronouncements to even know something is going on at this point.
Yes, the restrictions are ridiculous and have shown to have little impact on the virus. Wearing a mask is about all thats shown to work to some extent.

I don't think they're picking on the Niners, other teams are affected too.

California currently has 618,000 cases while the next state(illinois) has 331,000. California has been one of the strictest states in the nation yet are getting hit the hardest.

This is horribly false.

Sure, but still having severe breakouts later on than other populated states. How does this happen when the state has been relatively strict? To me it should be an example of how strict measures help but it seems it just prolonged what's happening. You can put Texas and Florida together for current cases and it's around California.

Michigan who had crazy restrictions is booming too.

It does feel like this is more of a act of spite by SC than a scientifically justified action.

I think it's got a lot to do with interstate travel at this point. I'm in AZ and I can't tell you how many people from other states are coming here for winter (snowbirds). I also know of a lot of people from AZ who are traveling to other states as if nothing is going on. We're out of ICU beds and Sky Harbor was packed for thanksgiving travelers, so it's only going to get worse here.

Our governor hasn't done really anything to enforce the restrictions we have, so most of the restaurants and bars are still operating at 50% capacity but most people aren't wearing masks inside. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by these places to see them pretty damn packed because people just have to have a beer inside rather than taking it home.
