This thread should probably be closed lol or moved to the NFL covid thread. You literally can't discuss it without bringing them up.
Sure you can.
This is b******t that SC county has this harsh a restriction on professional sports. I get the restriction for youth sports but these are professionals with top of the line testing. There are no fans in the stands so the risk of spread is the same as it has been in previous weeks.
This is another jab in the battle between the county and the 49ers. SC county has been one of the better counties when it comes to rate of infection so to see it impose one of the harshest restrictions seems unnecessary when you consider these are professional athletes who understand the risks.
They're also screwing the sharks, Stanford, and San Jose State. It's not like the 49ers are the only program that gets hit by this. The county is making a blanket ruling. No exceptions. I don't agree with it, but I get it.

Restrictions in Santa Clara may force 49ers to practice/play elsewhere (No politics)

Yea, I see public health officials scare mongering about CASES! but you'd have to rely solely on these pronouncements to even know something is going on at this point.
trust me man, you are not alone in this thinking. Many are just too afraid to voice a different opinion on here. Most of these protocols are purely done because those that impose them love to wield their power. In this case, you have a city and team with a history of being hostile towards each other. Does anyone really believe outdoor, contact sports are really responsible for spreading this virus? SC banning all activities like this is a power grab but ultimately it's a big middle finger to the 49ers. How big of a joke do you think the people calling the shots in SC are when they force announcers to wear masks during the broadcasting of a game in an empty stadium? This crap isn't even going on in places like LA and Seattle and those places have been hit far worse by this virus than SC County. This government overreach plain and simple. Quite frankly, anyone that doesn't think what SC is doing isn't absurd, is a damn fool.

why is this so hard.. limited fans anyway.. you play the game at kezar. they can only get 10 thousand in there anyway.. now that would be cool. kind of spooky though as the ghosts of john brodie and charley kruegar would be circling over head

Almost 4 times population though
Then Cali's doing excellent by comparison. Simple math.

The truth is,...the football seasons should've never began to begin with. And I'm as big a sports fan as anyone here.
Unreasonable requests include asking all the sideline players to wear masks now,...if we want to be honest. It's all for that word we cant mention here.
When it comes to "that" stuff,...the virus doesn't really care which side you are on. From January to now,...we fumbled this year bigtime,...and are now paying the price for it.

Lame! It's not going to fkn hurt the spikes if we have a football game. Lol there's no fkn fans that are going. And out of all of these surges in the NFL how many are hospitalized? 0.
Let's play ball!!

Sure, but still having severe breakouts later on than other populated states. How does this happen when the state has been relatively strict? To me it should be an example of how strict measures help but it seems it just prolonged what's happening. You can put Texas and Florida together for current cases and it's around California.
Michigan who had crazy restrictions is booming too.
That's the whole point of having severe restrictions. Since the state is so populated, it's important to do everything possible to slow the spread. It was pointed out that the number of cases is the highest in the nation but the population is also the highest with several large metro ares that make rapid spreading more likely. San Diego, LA, SF, San Jose, Fresno, and Sacramento all have more than one million people in their greater area.
The infection rate per 100,000 is lower in California than in many states like the Dakotas and Montana to name just 3. Those places are either out of or running out of hospital space. If California had responded the way many of the conservative states did, the number of cases would be well over one million.

I have to agree. It's asinine to think an airborne virus cares about our feelings and boredom.
If we had better access to testing the restrictions may not be necessary, but the general population doesn't.

I have one question. What would the county do if the Niners went ahead and practiced and played. How would the county enforce the rules? Would they send the police force out to shut the facility down? Would they arrest Jed, Kyle and John Lynch?
I'm all for restrictions and being cautious but I really doubt that playing 2 more home games would have much of an impact on the virus spreading since there are no fans there and the teams players and personnel are tested daily.

I wonder if the Niners could sue the city and county to pay for the cost of having to play out of state? The city of Santa Clara or someone on the board already doesn't like the team. What's one more issue between them. If Santa Clara doesn't smarten up and realize the money that the stadium brings in then they will end up causing the team to leave someday. That might leave the Bay Area with no football team.

I agree but I would add that sports shouldn't have started up in general. But in myrica, we want things now and public safety be damned.

Not much chance of getting closer to SF. Where is there any land available at a reasonable price? They went down that road with SF before they moved to Santa Clara. Everything between SF and SJ and SJ and Oakland is built up or will be in the next few years. If they leave SC it will probably be to another state.
