You could be right. However, I also think this might be playing a role in the dispute as well.
Granted, Santa Clara County is NOT the City of Santa Clara. But, having worked in local and statewide politics, I also know that the political game makes for strange bedfellows. In other words, these people all know each other. Thanks to Jed York's prolific spending, three politicos found themselves on the outside looking in. This includes low-level staffers like I once was.
One makes political enemies by doing stuff like this. The county decision could be legit. It could also be payback.
Santa Clara County has nothing to do with the stadium and the city of Santa Clara has nothing to do with the Covid restrictions.

Where and how?
That's been the biggest issue with building a stadium in San Francisco going back to the 80s.
Candlestick's old site is out
Hunter's Point has the pollution issue.
Also, I think it would be hard to get a public ballot measure for support on a new stadium so close to Levi's being passed.
I'd love to see them play in SF proper, but I just don't know how feasible it would be.
San Francisco didn't want to finance a stadium for the 49ers, the 49ers didn't want to finance their own stadium.
They could have built in SF if they were willing to finance their own stadium.

So you're ok with corrupt politicians that won't even follow their own covid rules who are turning the state into a literal s**t show. Weird flex but ok

Why does somebody have to be fibbing? It's quite possible it's all true. The team and the county could have been communicating frequently. The county made this ruling and got out the info as soon as it was decided. The team was blindsided by the ruling since they weren't expecting it and has to scramble to move large organization operations out of the area.
Why is this hard to believe?

I think Santa Clara Co is in way over their heads...Coach and the team are on their way "home" from LA and they find out they don't have a home. That's on the county pukes. Being in "contact" is one thing...being told you have to leave your stadium and practice field is another. I think Coach's concerns were genuine and SCC is trying to cover their butts. On the other hand, major kudos to the Cards and Glendale AZ for offering up their stadium & practice facility. Another kudo goes to San Diego, who offered to help find our team a temporary home. When times get tough, you remember those who genuinely try to help. You get very skeptical of country bubbas who speak out of both sides of their mouths.

i mean, they have a f**king point. lol.
"If leaders want to protect their teams and communities, they should not play anywhere until it is safe. One might envision a reemergence of team-building if the teams spent their time building a COVID relief fund for the community rather than trying to put the community at more risk."

The Yorks should nut up and just walk out of SC practice facilities and all. Just leave the lease, leave all the money owed. Fight it out in court and drag it out for years while they rebuild somewhere else.
TBPH if they just took the whole franchise to another state I wouldn't even be mad, matter of fact I'd support it at this point. There was a time I couldn't imagine the 9ers leaving CA but after what it has turned into and all the BS that comes with it, it would be awesome to see the Yorks give a giant middle finger up to SC and CA.
