SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at ARIZONA CARDINALS - 2020 Week 16

It's not the 9ers fault that the NFL draft incentive is broken. That's an NFL problem that nobody seems to care to address.

That said, this is definitively as good as a preseason win. Any other perceived value from it is purely subjective.

This is correct. The nba has it right. If the nfl fixes this, it would no longer be an issue.

If you're rooting for the niners to win a meaningless game that hurts their long term goals, then you're not really a fan of the 49ers, you're a fan of instant gratification.

+1
It blows my mind seeing 49er fans think this win means absolutely anything when a 3rd string QB and 3rd string RB wins a meaningless game after they have been eliminated from playoff contention.
I can't believe we held them to 4 fg's! Great job D!

Pretty much. Be a Browns fan if you want to celebrate every win no matter the circumstance. We're here for Super Bowls.

Although I don't think the it's ok to lose applies here.

As a fan its understandable to WANT things to happen, like losing out. However let's remember who's actually in control of that reality.... the players and coaching staff. You going to go to your job and suck so you can get some help.... or maybe fired? These guys careers on on the line folks let's think logically for a second. I know you're all the world cares about in your heads but that's just you being ignorant.

It's not hard to understand why they would want the team to lose in a lost season.

Players and coaches will and never should feel that way, but fans are afforded that luxury.

Calling them fake or not real fans (plus whatever names they get called) is nonsense IMO. Everyone wants the best for our team and to see a SB win. It's OK if people see different paths to achieving that goal.

Yeah it's pretty dumb. Especially because it's often coming from people who want to keep Jimmy and not get someone else, when he's clearly average at best. I mean, rooting to keep Jimmy and not upgrade is literally rooting to lose games a better QB would win.

Either way, it's not an indictment on someone's love for the team, even if it's an indictment on their team building skills (as if this is Madden...).

Mockery of what being happy for the players for a victory but also realizing the value of this win is basically nothing...actually making things worse for a team in need of upgrading at some very important positions.

It's cool I'm sure you'll be talking about this victory a yr from now

Yup. The odds of getting their QB was long gone even before this win.

Yup and the odds of fixing everything you want (like the OL) become even harder with Jimmy and his fat contract on the books...people do realize there's a link between everything, right?

Doesn't have to hurt any long term goals. The player at #12 can be way better than the player at #7.
even if we lost out, it's likely we'd have to trade up for a "viable" QB. Actually being in favor of that is a different discussion but in the grand scheme of things this doesn't change much. I'm happy that we won and Kyler Murray got spear'd at the end of the game. We never catch that guy and it was nice to finally see some pressure in the backfield
Be Honest who here is in there Living room Rooting for the 49ers to Lose?? I mean do some of you really sit there and try to explain this "Tanking " Mentality to other people? Much less 49ers fans in the same house hold ? im just blown away by this

Disappointing that we lost our draft position - but, it just goes to show, that we don't have control over these games, whether your rooting for a win or a loss.

Look at all those high picks over the last 20 years (most not even with the team anymore) and they're just now about to make the playoffs for the first time in almost 20 years.
