I think that's how it will eventually turnout. I'm hoping he can beat out BeatHard for the #2 backup QB spot in pre-season.

How can yall already be settled for Rosen as #2, if we are trying to make a run at the Super Bowl?

Why not someone more proven? Make a push for it if need be.

All of the above are free agents. I was thinking about Sam Darnold but he is still under contract with the Jets and I think carries a $10 million dollar cap hit. No way we could trade for him if for whatever reason we had to keep Jimmy G.

For me I'm intrigued with Trubisky. Yeah he just wasn't that good with the Bears but he did show flashes from time to time and has the athletic ability to get out of the pocket to extend plays. I think Jimmy G is better than Trubisky but I don't think he is miles better. If our team is relatively healthy and he is our QB for 2021 while the rookie sits, I think we are still a playoff caliber team. If Jimmy G is still around I think Mitch could push Jimmy or at least be a capable backup.

My #2 choice would be Jameis Winston. Yeah he is an interception machine but with a good team around him, I think he'd at least keep us in games. Yeah I know I may be crazy and I do like FSU so there is that. Fitzpatrick makes a lot of sense if we roll with a rookie.

If we're drafting a Rookie, I'm assuming we trade JG(hopefully to Pitt, Indy or Washington for a 2nd or 3rd. That's wishful thinking) . I'd try to bring in Fitz or Dalton from that list. They've both had some success in this league and understand the game enough to be able to teach a rookie, but also compete in the process. Yes, I know Dalton didn't do too well in DAL, but McCarthy is overrated, their OL was banged up, terrible defense and Zeke had a bad year. We have better coaching, run game and defense. Strengthen that OL and I'm sure we could get at least 10 wins outta either guy. I'd also keep Mullens around on IR/PS while he recovers. Despite what he's done on the field, he clearly knows that playbook and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up as a QC guy in the near future.

Go into camp with the following:
Rookie
Fitz/Dalton
CJ
Rosen
Mullens

If we keep Jimmy:

Jimmy
Fitz/Dalton
CJ
Rosen
Mullens

Idk but better keep a open spot on that PS for Josh Johnson. IMO, he's probably the reason the defense played well against mobile QBs late in the season when he was signed to the PS.

Keep Jimmy, sign another vet, draft a QB and let them duke it out in TC. Give Jimmy some legit competition, not some corny Mullens and Beathard kind of competition.

We should bring in Ryan Fitzpatrick.

If we're gonna have Jimmy next year, then Ryan knows that we won't play mind game with him like the Dolphins did this year. No young guy to randomly go in there whne he's hot.

If Jimmy is hurt, he's starting.

I'm down with Fitzpatrick in pretty much any scenario. The only thing I don't want is Jimmy back at his current salary structure.

either way Jimmy can not be getting paid the amount of money we are currently paying him.

This is what I would pick of this list, If Fitz would do it again. I think he might be a little tired of getting teams out to a decent start and then having his legs chopped out from him. I think sink or swim he will want to go someplace where he can finish a season. I really like the idea of Jimmy takes a pay cut and draft a kid the best though.

I think bring back CJ as the practice squad QB, Rosen as #2, and draft a QB to groom in the 1st or 2nd.
