Yes, according to that (very legalistic) text, the 49ers will receive 2 third-round comp picks in each of the next three drafts. Of the two the 49ers officially received today, one was for Robert Saleh and one was for Martin Mayhew https://t.co/c9p6nk3Bsa

The NFL accidently awarded the 49ers two third-round picks next month for losing Robert Saleh and Martin Mayhew when it should have been one. They'll get third-round comp picks this year (No. 102 overall), in 2022 and in 2023. More ....

Sweet! Robert and Martin are good and skilled football executives. Not a real big fan of these quota kind of rules, but in this case -- well deserved.

So Citi can't get back $500 million it sent by mistake to another bank and we have to give back a 3rd round comp pick? I see how it is.

2021 Salary Cap Outlook: --- Courtesy of AB81Rules: 49ersCap & OverTheCap
The 49ers have $31,605,877 [3/14/2021] in cap space with 63 players signed on a confirmed, $182.5M team cap for 2021. That is the 8th most cap space.
This is before knowing Emmanuel Moseley's deal.
Per AB:They can save $5.42M by redoing Ward's deal, $2.74M by extending or redoing Laken's deal, they can save $18.42M by redoing Jimmy's deal($23.6M if cut/traded), & if Dee is gonna retire, we can do the same with him as we did with Richburg, saves $14.075M.

Unreal. The fact that we have a fully paid QB who's on a year to year deal and only have one marquee player left to resign, we're in terrific shape to potentially clean up on a depressed market where there is a very real chance we can cash in on a buyer's market and can get quality players for much cheaper than usual with additional cap health on the way thanks to the new TV deal coming up.
A look at how much cap space each team, per the NFL's accounting. This reflects only moves that have been *officially* made.

A full pool of OL and ER's are available which never happens. $9M needed for the rookie pool. Most deals will have very low cap hits 'this year' and this is before cutting Richburg and possibly extending Ford to spread out his cap hits.
No more excuses not to end free agency the draft with a top 3 roster in starting talent and tops in depth.
The "We can't afford it..." no longer applies with the gymnastics added to the current CBA. As to, if we "should?" That is a legit stance, however. But we can definitely afford several key moves for T, C/G and ER as well as resign our mid-tier players in K'Waun, Verrett and Juice. The FO may not even have to restructure anyone else all this year including Jimmy Garoppolo. That is terrific cap health and might be the best of any team with a paid-like FQB.

Ian Rapoport on NFL Network just said that the #49ers are looking to lock up Trent Williams, Kyle Juszczyk, and Jason Verrett today before they hit the open the market

Dang that is slick. It doesn't take a genius to see we need OG/C, OG, ER right at the top of the list and pool in our favor...man you gotta love this.
also for draft, you gotta love that 3rd round, and i can't remember a progression quite like it: 102. 103. 108 . That looks like a huge hammer to get something we REALLY really want or.... 3 solid talents, albeit at end of rd 3. No way we aren't liking that.
the real prize tho is that 3 picks in our golden rd, Rd 5. Watch JohnL pick 2 starters and one really good rotation player there. That 's a round we definitely don't want to trade from. Just means that the further downstream we get, the better JL gets. Gotta love that, too.

He didn't meet the play time...because he opted out last year. So he reverts back to us and we lose a 7th instead of the 6th. Odd indeed!
